Eradication in Four Days; Natural Mineral Bait
We tried a stunning number of wholly ineffective and more expensive ant control products before striking gold with Terro liquid baits, which use the natural mineral Borax to blow up an ant's digestive system (the same Borax found in toothpaste and hand soap). You'll have to resist the urge to actively kill the critters once they come out of the woodwork and flock to these traps, as you want them to take their loot to the nest to wipe out the colony and queen. For two days, their procession marched across our kitchen floor. By day three, only stragglers remained. Total eradication by day four.Granted, it helps to know the ant variety you're dealing with -- ours was the Buckley Ant (Monomorium Minimum), or "Little Black Ant." Here's hoping your brand of invaders are as susceptible to this highly effective, low-cost poison as ours were. - (Was this review of use? If so, let me know by clicking "Helpful." Cheers!)

One of the best ant baits
Love Terro Liquid Ant Killer! There’s a red line to show you where to cut but I suggest cutting a bit higher closer to the tip. Put this on top of a bigger piece of cardboard because the liquid will spill out and make a sticky mess. The scouter ants will smell this and go check it out. Once they find out this is “food”, they go back and let the other ants know. You’ll see a ton more ants come and this can last 2-7 days but I guarantee they’ll disappear after that. If you’re like me and stare at them every hour, it may seem like they’ll never leave but they will. Just be patient. You’ll also see the ants ignore the bait and crawl around it. Just move the bait an inch away and tip the bait so a little of the liquid comes out and they’ll go right back to the bait! The description for this isn’t clear here. You’re getting one box which contains 6 liquid baits. You’re NOT getting the “4 pack of 6 convenient, ready to use bait stations...” as described in the product features. And for $18 selling price, that is a rip off. It’s cheaper at a store. The $18 is what you’ll pay at the store for the 4 pack (boxes).

The only thing that kills ants
I battle ants about 1-2 x per year when it gets really hot here. Terro was a hot tip from a stranger at Home Depot a few years ago. And is the only thing that works. Ants LOVE this stuff. You just have to be patient enough to let them swarm and eat it all. I have 2 cats so having these bait traps is much better for me & for their safety than a spray or powder. PRO TIP: Keep some traps on hand so that you can always put a trap down when you start seeing the ants.

Works for Carpenter Ants
I had read that carpenter ants don't always go for sweet baits like Terro, only at certain times in their life cycles. But I thought they were worth a try. I knew we had an ant problem, as I was seeing foraging ants, one or two a day, mostly in my bathroom. So, I put three traps around the room. That first day, I saw one ant enter the trap. It stayed so long I thought it had drowned. But later, it emerged and I watched it climb across the wall until I could see where it had entered the house, at the top of a window sill. I closed the door and waited for about six hours. When I opened the door again, there were hundreds of carpenter ants, following a trail along the walls to the bait. They were enormous and of varying sizes -- it really looked like something out of a horror movie against my beige wallpaper. Thankfully, we had another bathroom we could use.I closed the door. By morning, there were a relatively small number of ants -- ten to twenty, still going for the bait. By the next day, I only saw a few ants and thought we had defeated them. However, we continued to see small numbers of ants, with an uptick to about ten to twenty again after a week. I called an exterminator and they advised me to be patient, as strays can keep coming in for a while. After a month, I finally had a day without any ants. That has continued now for eight days, so I'm hopeful that the nest has been destroyed.I previously had repaired a damp area on the wall where they entered. I think the dampness may have been more extensive that I originally thought, a good place for carpenter ants to nest. The good news is that the Terro Ant Baits worked and cost very little. The bad news is that the repairs will cost a lot more!

Perfect
With most purchase, I'm always slightly skeptical. But wow, these ant traps worked exactly as expected. We had a problem in our lower level with "forager" ants scattered around. It wasn't bad enough to where there was a large trail or infestation, but annoying enough to notice 5 ants scattered about at any given time.We bought this 6 pack of traps and scattered them about, and sure enough, within a matter of hours there were a TON of ants in a trail leading right to this trap. I read from the reviews and instructions that this would be the case, but it was still unnerving to see MORE ants than before. I figured we should wait it out and see. Low and behold, the next day the ants whittled down to a minor scattered group, and a day after that, they were completely gone (the ants even did their thing by carrying away any dead ants left behind). Color me impressed. These worked perfectly and I'll be a repeat purchaser for any future problems!
