So much for buying a certified cable, what now?

Got the computer built and tested using an old 1600x1200 Dell monitor I had sitting around while I was deciding which monitor to get.Once I got the PG348Q and the Startech cable set everything up and you can see by the video what I was experiencing. That video was with everything set at 3440 x 1440 & 100hz. At 60 hz, the flickering was not as bad, but still there. Already I'm thinking I should have just bought another Mac instead of dealing with all the hassle of a Windows machine. (Been using Macs since the arrival of Vista after building maybe 100 custom gaming/overclocked rigs between about '94 and '06.) I'm also now in a funk thinking I may have to return the monitor or the video card or ? As I'm googling thie issue, a couple of posts suggested switching the plugs around helped. Only when I did that, the monitor reported there was no DP cable connected. Finally, pulled out the cable that came with the monitor and had to move the computer so it would reach. Voila, no issue whatsoever. I've been playing Shadow of the Tomb Raider with all settings at a mixture of High and Ultra for 2 days now at 100 hz and not a flicker in sight.Anyone have an idea where I go for a 10'/3 meter cable? Need at least 7'.

Doesn't work, even at 1/3rd the specified bandwidth.
This cable is advertised for 21.6 Gbps. I tried it first at 4k and 30 Hz which only requires 6.18 Gbps. I get a lot of flicker and a lot of desyncs. I then tried it at 60 Hz that requires 12.54 Ghz which is why I purchased the cable in the first place. All I get is a blank screen, it can't even sync up at all. I tried two cables, and I tried to reverse the cable so that the opposite ends were plugged in case of bad ground termination. There was no way I could get the cable to work at 60 Hz which is well within the advertised specification.I'll be returning the 3 cables I got as soon at Amazon's return form works for me.

25' worked for 2560x1440 @ 144hz/fps
Had to run part way around a room from the computer to a new screen. My old 25ft DisplayPort cable worked fine for the previous 1080@120hz screen but was showing textbook signal problems (flickering and blackouts) when I upgraded to [email protected] I ordered this active cable (25'/7m variety) and everything immediately worked perfectly. Running smooth at 2560x1440 @ 144fps. Can't ask for more than that!

Drops signal
Sucks at its only jobAt first it seemed reasonably well built and like a normal no frills displayport cable. But once I started using it, I immediately began having problems with dropped signal. My screen will go black and the image will intermittently flicker back on until I turn my monitor off and back on....very annoying. I replaced the cable with a good DP cable and everything went back to normal. Buy nice or buy twice

15ft works flawlessly for 1080p 144hz.
There is a lot of confusion regarding display port cables and what to select for your purpose. Prior to purchasing, I contacted Star Tech for clarification on a 15ft version of this cable and whether it would work at 1080p at 144hz for a gaming monitor and got this response - "The DISPLPORT15L 15ft DisplayPort cable is certainly compliant with DisplayPort 1.2 HBR2 specifications with bandwidth up to 21.6Gbps. I do not suspect there will be any issues with running the DISPLPORT15L with a 1920x1080 monitor at 144Hz. The bandwidth required will be well below the 21.6Gbps of which the cable is capable. There will be no flicker with a 1920x1080@144Hz display due to the DISPLPORT15L." After receiving the cable, I have found that the cable works flawlessly with no flicker or drop off while gaming at the highest settings. I am very satisfied with this cable for my purposes and if you are looking at similar specs, then I would suggest this cable over the other brands currently available, as this is the only one I could locate after several hours of scanning forums, that is capable of 21.6Gbps.

Great Cable - Not Surprised
I work in the IT field, and we buy tons of cables on a fairly regular basis. I often find myself looking for StarTech cables, because we've never had one that was defective, and we've never had any go bad. When I needed a 10 foot DP cable for my home PC, I immediately went to see if StarTech made what I was looking for, and indeed they did. Excellent cable. Excellent price.NOTE: Be sure to check that the video cable you are planning to purchase supports both the resolution and refresh rate you would like to use. It's an easy mistake to make if you're not careful.

needs very strong input signal
+ decent cable with good connectors & strain relief.- failed to work with EVGA GTX970 SC & LG GK650F-B 1440p @ 144hz ...wouldn't detect over 120hz, & dropped signal constantly. i've read Nvidia has a history of weak DP signal on several card line-ups over the years (& poor DP support in general), so this cable may work better with newer AMD cards....had to return, re-arrange my set-up, & go with a shorter one from KableDirekt (been flawless).

These have worked well for the most part, but ...
These have worked well for the most part, but once in a while they will drop connection or go static for a moment then return to normal. I don't think it has to do with the inputs coming lose as I have checked them multiple times on both ends. The rate at which it happens though has become less frequent where at first it was a few times a day, now is only once every few days. No explanation as to why though.

Not good at all.
I bought 2 of these and it was a disappointment. Although they are VESA certified and PIN 20 is inactive, both cables failed to provide the required bandwidth. Both were totally out of promised specifications, one failed to drive a DELL s2716dg 1440p monitor over 85hz, the monitor blacked out above that. The second was even worse, failing to go beyond 60hz at 1080p on an AOC g2770pf 1080p monitor. Fortunately Amazon refunded me in full. I then got an Accell B142C-010B 3 meter cable and it was excellent. Material quality is ok, but since it cannot do the basic job for which you get it, just stay away from it.

Great Product
I bought these for my QHD Dell monitors and they definitely helped improve the screen resolution and picture quality. If you have QHD or 4K monitors you need specific cables so that you can utilise the screen resolution as long as your graphics card is compatible, these definitely did the trick and would highly recommend.

Perfect, fixed all my cable woes
Perfect, fixed all my cable woes. The listing states"The DISPLPORT6L 6-foot DisplayPort® Cable supports a maximum bandwidth of 10.8 Gbps, and is capable of providing higher performance than either HDMI® or dual link DVI and supporting next generation multimedia applications with a maximum resolution capability of up to WQXGA (2560×1600)"This is misinformation, the correct specs are,The DISPLPORT6L 6ft DisplayPort™ 1.2 Cable with latches provides a secure, connection between your DisplayPort-equipped devices and is capable of providing higher performance than either HDMI® or dual link DVI.The DP cable supports high resolutions of up to 4k x 2k (3840 x 2160) @ 60Hz with a maximum HBR2 bandwidth of 21.6 Gbps. The cable also supports Multi-Stream (MST) for daisy chaining multiple monitors and provides optional audio support. The DISPLPORT6L is backed by StarTech.com’s Lifetime Warranty, for guaranteed reliability and ensures that digitally protected content is displayed properly, with both HDCP and DPCP capability.I dont have a 4k display but I can confirm the cable is capable of 3440 x 1440 @ 60hz

Good cable, but might not work best at 4K 60 hertz
It's a good quality cable but doesn't seem to work on 4K resolution when using 60 hertz refresh rate. When used with my Nvidia card, the display worked fine with occasional flicker, however, when used with a Radeon R9 290x GPU, the screen was not usable and kept flickering until the refresh rate was turned down to 30 hertz. At 1080p and 1440p 60 hertz, everything works fine.I recommend the cable for use at all resolutions except 4K 60 hertz. With Nvidia cards, the issues is less noticeable and with AMD Radeon, the issues appear straight away as apparently the Radeon GPUs emit weaker signal on the DisplayPort connector. This is probably cable shielding issue, which might just be relevant to the unit I've got. But for £15, I got the Accell B142C-010B DisplayPort to DP Latching Cable which fixed my screen issues. So if you're on 4K, you can definitely afford a cable that's less than £5 more expensive and gives a lower probability of issues:)

This Displayport Cable was on the VESA DISPLAYPORT certifcation list, However this cable didn't show picture on my monitor let alone know if it was any good, Will no longer be buying this trash company's product.
