Each side plate is 1.25 making the smallest weight of the total barbell 2.5 pounds since there is a plate on both ends.

Are the bars comfortable to hokd in your hands? Do you get blisters easily?

I find them comfortable. I work hard so already have calluses, however I do not feel the bars would cause blisters.

What is the grip material? The description says "knurled grip", but the pictures look like neopreme or foam...?

That is correct, while the surface my be knurled, it is covered by a neoprene, like material. The grip is slightly compressible, but just only just slightly.

I’m not quite sure what you mean by comfortable, but I have used these regularly for over two years. They are easy to use and I haven’t noticed anything uncomfortable.
