It works!
I have two, one in basement for water heater, furnace and the dryer and one upstairs in kitchen area for the stove. Recently the one in the basement started going from zero to one and then on to two. The alarm had not gone off yet (and yes super strong smells can set them off, so I know they works) . Long story short, Alliant and the fire dept did find, a tiny gas leak leading to the furnace. Now the poor little detector didn't want to go back to zero after that, even in fresh air, so I ordered this replacement.

I live in an apartment with three others. this gas detector has worked two times so far. if you have a gas stove this is a must have.

My second natural gas leak detector...
I ordered this for more peace of mind. I installed a natural gas leak detector in our kitchen, and I wanted to add another to the basement near our furnace and water heater. This fit the bill, and hopefully they will both work well. This one does not include any mounting hardware as it just sits in an outlet. I am using it in a basement, so I can run an extender strip up the wall to provide the receptacle at the height I want.I am rating this four stars as I assume that it does the job, it was easy to install, and it gives us more peace of mind. As always, your mileage and preferences may vary... Cheers!

Doesn’t work
Our basement water heater fitting had a gas leak. I could smell gas in our house from the top of the basement stairs. This thing was 3 feet from that valve and don’t go off. Junk.

Small price to pay for big peace of mind.
I know that most gasses are scented so they can be detected when they leak, but I'm not alway standing right by something when it could be leaking. This little unit plugs in easily and appears to work well - fortunately, I haven't had any problems for it to detect. Honestly, it's very reasonably priced and provides a layer of safety and peace of mind. I'm very happy to have it. If you use gas in your house, you probably should have one, too. My only regret is that I don't have two! But I can fix that problem. :)
