HaywardECX270861 Boxed Pressure Gauge Replacement for Select Hayward Sand and D.E. Filter

I have a pool that uses a Hayward sand filter. The filter has a gauge on it, mine was broken. The idea is that as the sand filter traps whatever it traps from your pool recirculation, the pressure increases and tells you when to backwash your sand filter. After backwash and rinse, the pressure decreases because you cleaned all the "stuff" from your filter.Maybe you do this, maybe you don't. I generally backwash when it rains and I have excess water in the pool (when you backwash you lose water). But during the dry season, this means I may go extended time between backwash and sand filter maintenance. My pressure gauge was broken, I simply replaced with the same model.Installation was plenty easy, it comes pre-wrapped with thread sealant. Turn the pump off, unscrew the old gauge, screw the replacement gauge in, turn on the pump and get data. I find that when the gauge reads 20+ psi, it is time to backwash the sand filter, but your data may vary.

Good replacement product. Comes complete with the PTFE tape already making it easy to fit. Experience no leaks and the gauge is working as it should.

Real oem fluid filled gauge, much better than cheaper units that i have gone through a few of because of very short lifespan

I went out to purchase the tape to wrap the guage end and found that I didn’t even need to because, if you look closely at the picture, the white tape has already been wrapped around the threads to screw in.What a plus, but I wish that the Co. Made this fact clear re it’s inclusion as I wouldn’t have gone out and bought tape myself.
