I started out with these shoes as a beginner, and I just wanted something inexpensive so I wouldn't have to wear rentals. Then I started wearing these out after about a year, and getting into the intermediate stuff, so I figured a more expensive pair would work better as my next climbing shoe.Nope! I got a pair of scarpas meant for intermediate climbers, and I kept slipping off the wall. It was so frustrating, so I returned them and got a second pair of Momentums and I'm so happy I did. I finally realized why they works so well. Its because I use the edging technique A LOT, and not many others shoes are made like the Black Diamond shoes that I could find.These shoes are great for edging because the bottom rubber comes up on the side a lot, allowing better grip on the edges of your feet which is so usefully on the small holds, and for techniques where you need to get closer to the wall.I am so happy with these, and if you use the edges of your feet a lot then these are NOT just beginner shoes like everyone says. If you value comfort, but also want shoes you can advance your skill in, these are absolutely the ones for you.Note: I wear a size 8 to 8.5 in running shoes, these are a size USW 9.5 or USM 8.5 (see pictures).

I wear a size 9.5 women, consistently. 9.5 and 10.5 both didn’t fit. Really small. I’d have to go to 11.5,optimistically. The heel is ultra stiff and guarantees blisters. I need a vegan shoe and it is so annoying to try over and over. Moving on.
