The difference in our 2 year old vislador been amazing. Before using this training aid our rescue dog would blithely ignore my requests to return to my side when off-leash, over and over. We had her trainer show us how to train her to come using the collar. Works like a charm at very low energy levels ( 10 on a scale which goes to 100). Start low and go slow. She now comes consistently without my triggering the collar. Lessons learned: make sure the collar is applied very snugly so the collar prongs contact the dog's neck skin. Remove the silicone covers from the prongs before applying the collar. Start low and go slow. If the collar stops working test it in vibration mode. The transmitter has to be synchronized with the collar and sometimes it gets out of synch. Recharge both units after each training session. Avoid triggering the collar unless your dog completely ignores your command to return. As soon as the dog turns toward you, release the trigger and show your dog you are excited that he/she is coming to you. Reward the dog. Be consistent. Soon you won't have to trigger the collar.

Terrific training tool! Before I bought this, and watched the training videos on youtube, I was dead set against this kind of collar. But boy, have I changed my mind! There are beep, vibration and 'shock' options, with so many levels that there is no excuse to hurt your dog at all. My dog has never even given a tiny yelp, even the few times I've used it on other than vibration. It's more like a tap on the shoulder to him, and he looks around to see how I'm doing that from afar! LOL! He reacted much more negatively to the wireless fencer that I tried for a while.The only thing I would caution is that you be sure you haven't accidentally touched the button for the second collar, because then your dog's collar won't work. Happened to me twice and I thought the batteries were useless. Not so. They are just fine when I have it set to the collar we're using.It's only been about 10 days since I started using this collar, and my dog doesn't even need it now. He comes running, tail wagging in the air, as soon as I call him.

This was great for getting our dog to listen and behave when off leash and really worked well when walking on leash. We used it all the time but 4 months after using it the battery in the remote started to fail and now it is completely dead. I cannot find a website for Petrainer (the manufacturer) and all I see on Amazon is the option to purchase a replacement remote. The usefulness of the unit was great but the quality and reliability is terrible. Pass on purchasing this unit. Find something more reputable.

So far so good - all elements work as described. I'm glad I got the updated version wit h the BLUE buttons, as they are easy to see. Not sure I'd like the other version with black buttons..hard to see. Distance works; I especially like the guide with hints/tips for training/using product. I will know more in time...in terms of hoping the button fonts will not fade off etc . But I think it seems like a good product. Just got it, still trying it out. So far seems to work but my dog is also very stubborn! LOL I'm confident/hopeful this product will result in some positive outcomes. I like the fact you don't have to go right to SHOCK! You can use the 'alarm' or the 'vibrate' and then shock if you need to ...and...you can control the level of vibration or shock. Great! Also, I like that it came with long/short prongs, and a spare set. So far I recommend this product.

I was super hopeful when I first used the collar. My dog responded at first really well to the vibration. However, he eventually just started ignoring it. The shock does not seem to work at all at any setting which is highly disappointing, since he is not bothered by the shock anymore. I have checked everything, collar tightness, used the electrical piece to make sure it works etc. Also, having to hit a button first to power it on delays the training response. The button set up really should just have seperate buttons for each mode rather than having to cycle through them to get to the right command. Needs to be a quick response to be effective.
