Big Fat Snare Drum - The Original 13"

This is the greatest drum dampener ever. I actually like steves donut a bit more but for small rooms live I stack them both.

While in studio, our drummers 13" snare drum was 12db louder in the kits mix. We didn't have time to mess with tape, new heads, etc. Pros: Overall the BFSD was a quick solution to bring the snare volume down in our mixes without asking our drummer to change how he played. Final sound was fatter, damper and level. Cons: Takes away "some" stick bounce back and if you like a "ring" to your tone you will loose that. We liked this full coverage with thumb tab over the donut version.

Did exactly like intended

Makes any snare drum sound big and fat. I use it on Gretsch Catalina 14x5.5, Ludwig Breakbeats 14x5.5, and a Gretsch 12x5.5. Works well with all snare drum. But, the better the snare is tuned, the better the fatness will sound. I generally tune my snare best I can, then put on the BFSD, and tweak to to remove "flappy-ness". The BFSD head sounds good on toms too, I have all sizes and love them all. It quiets everything down just a bit too, which is nice for small rooms or mic'ing situations. I have not tried any other styles than the flagship head, but I'll bet all do a good job. These are something all drummers should have in the toolbox (cymbal bag!).

This has added a very professional sound to my snare…… a lesser use for moon gell. Also purchase one for my TAMA Piccolo Snare.

Great Product..really changes the sound of the snare..ultra fat, low end is killer

Yes it did change the sound of my snare completely. More muffled. I’m not sure if it really sounds “bigger.” It does kill some of the bounce. Sometimes I use it sometimes I don’t. I can say that I don’t love it, but I won’t say that I hate it.

Great way to get a nice deep tone on your snare. My go to product for my snares.

Good

Buon prodotto, ben fatto.
