Q: Is it made in the USA

"Bpa free, made in italy"Literally the fourth point on the product description. Italy is a country in Europe, which is not part of the USA.

It might as well be plastic. They are NOT air-tight or water-tight as described by some.

Q: Would these be good for homemade body butter with added essential oils? Is the glass hinged lid easy to open and close?

They are easy open/close latches. They should be good for body butters and lotions. I would make sure to check the seal/gasket to make sure then oils aren't eating at it (easy to replace, though!). I use mine for homemade laundry soap.

Q: Are these jars water tight?

NO. I just returned mine. They are not water tight or air tight.
