MicroplaneSelect Series Bi-Directional Ribbon Blade Cheese Grater (Red)

Ordered the coarse grind after returning the fine grind (unopened.). This is the grind we like for a hard Parm cheese freshly put on at serving. Just right, the cutting blade and Company are US and the product is high quality.

I'm not one to usually go for brand names when off brand will do, this time it makes a difference. Microplane deserves its reputation as a quality, high use tool. I use for everything from hard cheeses to garlic and citrus zest. They have definitely earned brand loyalty from me.

I love Microplane products. I bought this version because the prior all-stainless design had the glued handle eventually separate (after many years and hundreds of dishwasher cycles). However, the side edges of this version are too wide. With a larger piece of cheese, after grating a few times, the sides prevent the cheese from being pressed against the blades. It's fine only as long as nothing will be grated that is wider than the blades themselves. Cuts well, and just needs either a thinner side border, or to have the blades elevated further above the sides.

Cheese glides smoothly across the blades. Most importantly, the Cleese doesn’t get packed in the blades. It cleans very easily. Good buy.

Sharp n sturdy

The key to finely grated cheese that almost melts in your mouth is this shredder. You only see cheese grated that fine in nice Italian restaurants. Now you can have it at home! I put cheese that I've grated with this onto pastas but it is also great on bruschetta. I also put it only Italian bread that has been dipped in olive oil. I'm so glad a friend introduced me to this shredder.
