Being a big fan of mackerel, ginger, and spiciness, I assumed I would love these, and I was correct. The mackerel fillets are of visibly obvious quality, and are notably tender without being mushy. One large chili per can provides some heat. While I wouldn’t mind it being slightly spicier, it is spicier than the sardines with chili from the same brand. I would also prefer a stronger ginger flavor, but based on the large slice of ginger in each can, they certainly tried. The olive oil seems to be of good quality and is fairly neutral tasting.You can get good mackerel tins that are substantially cheaper than this from brands like King Oscar and Season, but if you don’t mind spending a couple more bucks per can you will notice the uptick in quality.

These are spectacular tins - the heat from the chili pepper is noticeable without being sweat-inducing and the ginger provides a nice counterbalance. Great straight from the tin but even better with some warm rice and drizzle the oil on it.

2 out of the 10 cans were dented! very disappointing!!!
