Good design and function in a locking gas cap
In comparison with the original item that my Ram 1500 came with, this locking replacement is at least as well made and designed, and perhaps better. The locking feature is easy to use with a little experimentation (necessary since there is no direction sheet), and the lock seems positive and secure. But I do wish that it came either with a tether (to keep it from being misplaced or forgotten when filling up) that can attach in the same way as the original. Neveretheless, this seems like a good piece of equipment that fits the vehicle well and performs its intended function without problems.

Did not work for me.
This cap initially worked for about 5 or 6 fill-ups? Then it seems it is too cheaply made to be removed as when you unlock the cap AKA insert the key and turn it while it's on the tank fill tube, all it does is click which resulted in me having to take a pair of channel locks and squeeze the cap until it broke and remove it from my Jeep. I did not do much research online and took only what Amazon said as this would fit my vehicle, and it did, the mechanisms that allow you to remove the cap seem to have too much play or not constructed well enough. I also noticed the first day that I put it on that you could only turn it about 1/2 a turn before the cap was clicking indicating that it was completely seated. Whereas the factory fuel cap turns almost 2-1/2 times before it is seated and the clicking / over tightening mechanism is engaged. After removing it with the channel locks there was no saving the cab so it was thrown away and luckily I had kept my factory cap in the box that the locking cab came in and just reinstalled my factory gas cap. I'll take the loss on it and not bother with returns or contacting the company since I know from years of past experience that locking gas caps are mostly very cheaply made and tend to only last a short period of time.3 stars because while it does work I knew what I was getting into but made the purchase anyway in hopes that maybe quality of such items had changed since the last one I purchased almost seven or eight years ago.
