The Beatitudes

Many of the books on the beatitudes I read today have no further insights that what Spurgeon had. I enjoy his passion and explanation. A great help in growing deeper in one's understanding of God and what is pleasing to Him. This is the most pivotal teaching in history and I think it is essential for every Christian to be deeply familiar with it. Start here and you won't be disappointed. Be blessed:)

Fantastic presentation on the beatitudes. I have heard some of the same arguments from this great work used by a great preacher of our day, Adrian Rodgers. A most fertile work. I will most likely read it again several times. If you doubt your faith or salvation this work will wipe away the haze from the mirror of your soul and allow you clear vision.

In studying the beatitudes spurgeons guidance propelled.me to a whole new level,of relationship with our Lord! The deeper I got the more the words and principles flew off the pages of the entire Bible into my face and into my soul...like going into high definition mode.

I got so much out of Charles Spurgeon’s writing on the Beaitudes. I understand the Beatitudes in a whole new way.

Charles Spurgeon never fails to inspire with his words and wisdom and this collection is no different from any other of his.A true masterpiece!

For many years I did not give the Beatitudes the kind of attention to study that it deserves. I would often hear or read them but always thought that Christ intended them for the non-believers. Being prompted by discussions in a study group, I decided to really take a closer look at this teaching and almost immediately I knew how wrong I was! The lesson Christ gives us through the Beatitudes is not only intended for believers, but really shows us the progression of our walk in faith. Spurgeon's gifted ability to walk you through the deep complexity of this scripture is amazing, timeless, and spiritually awakening! Another must read for the believer who truly seeks first the Kingdom of God!

I gave this 5 stars, because its content is quite rich. However, if you're not an avid reader, you might find it too difficult to wade through parts that were written earlier in Spurgeon's career as the wording is archaic. I found it well worth the effort myself.

I was so happy when I found this for Kindle having read the paperback several years ago. I checked the Kindle and found the formatting is good and of course the content is second to none. There is the characteristic plainnes that those of us who love to read Spurgeon are familiar with and why we go back to his sermons and are refreshed in our souls. There is much profit to be gained by reading this and so much to meditate upon. I am hoping to see the Kindle edition of the grand achievement of Spurgeon completed so near his Home Going. The commentary on Matthew. For now, anything that you can get of Spurgeon will be a treat for you. He followed the "old paths" teaching and he is as profitable today as when he preached in Victorian England.

This is the best expose on the Beatitudes I have ever come across. I recommend this book if you want to be given the deeper, non-superficial picture on this talk by Christ. Totally caught me by surprise. I'll never look at the Beatitudes in the same way again after reading this.
