How is this brush cleaned/washed?

Dish Washing Liquid and Warm to Hot Water. The Dish Washing Liquid would be the kind of soap you would hand wash dishes with, NOT the Your Dish Washer Machine Soap.

Would this work well for brushing melted butter on phyllo dough?

I don't like this brush for cooking purpose because it will require to wash it after each use The cotton threads absorbs a lot of liquid or butter used and for home cooking is not very convenient. The threads are not firm and spread and you end touching your food with the wood part. The size is really small. The best brush for phyllo dough is the one like painters use and you can buy in any cooking supply store. I prefer the synthetic material as it will not loose so many fibers. You also can use the silicon brush , so easy to clean and don't loose threads while brushing.
