Bought for my student daughter and her and friends loved it. Need to concentrate on rules and then you are away. Bought on offer so was great.

Fun family game
We played this with a group of 5 adults. I originally thought this was an escape room game from the titale, when I reread it I realised it was a game about escaping prison with puzzles. Each person has a meeple and has to collect cards to move around the prison and 'escape'. The first person to escape is the winner. You collect cards through doing tasks based on rolls of the dice. These can be performing - kinda like charades or drawing like pictionary - the person who guesses also wins cards. You get to choose your level of difficulty and the rewards increase in relation to that (rarer cards are then available.) The other way to collect cards and roll of the dice is logic - you get a card and have until your next turn to solve the problem. There are a variety of word or code puzzles to solve. These can be very easy or very hard depending on your familiarity with code breaking games. The answers can be read using a red film cover and there is a clue on each card which you can ask the person next to you to read to you. You are able to trade cards with each other. To escape to the next area you have a card with named cards you need to collect. This game was fun and engaging, I'd say some of the codes would be challenging for a 13 year old but you could always skip trickier ones as there are lots of cards and a selection of puzzles. We enjoyed this, it was something a bit different. We'll play this again.

Great family fun
Bought this on tight budget on the back of the high reviews for our 14 year old. The game itself is really good fun. Entertaining for a ten year old as well as parents. The only small gripe is the packing away bit, there is no dedicated space for the cards, so it's messy. However excellent entertainment value. Paid around a tenner and it's well worth it. There are plenty of cards so this will be replayed a good few times. Maybe an expansion pack in the future will come out. The game lasted between the 3 of us over 90 minutes.

Intense fun and a perfect gift
Great game (particularly for adults and game nights) and very high quality material - was impressed with both the concept and execution. Unfortunately, we've played it so often we now recognise many of the answers despite the plentiful selection of cards included, but the game can easily be adapted by adding penalties or additional rules to make it more difficult. Looks lovely too and is fairly bulky so would make a good gift.

Hours of fun and adventure for your family.
"The Escape Game: Escape from Iron Gate" has quickly become a favourite in our family. This board game has brought endless hours of fun and excitement to our gatherings. With a recommended age of 13+, it's perfect for teens and adults, and the 3-8 player range makes it versatile for both small and large groups. It's the ideal game to engage the entire family. The gameplay is truly immersive. As a group, you'll work together to solve puzzles and overcome challenges in order to escape from Iron Gate. The game is packed with unexpected twists and turns, keeping everyone on their toes and encouraging teamwork. The components of the game are of excellent quality. The game board and pieces are well-crafted, and the included puzzles are both challenging and enjoyable. The attention to detail in the design is evident and adds to the overall experience. One of the best features of this game is the replayability. With multiple scenarios and difficulty levels, you can enjoy a different adventure every time you play. It's like having your own escape room in a box!Whether you're a puzzle enthusiast, an escape room fanatic, or just a family looking for a great game night option, "The Escape Game: Escape from Iron Gate" is an absolute winner. It fosters collaboration, problem-solving, and most importantly, lots of laughter. We can't recommend it enough!

Good party board game for when you have visitors
I would recommend this game as a great party board game - it allows for up-to 8 players and you can probably explain the instructions to new players relatively easily (though previous players will have a distinct advantage).I wouldn't recommend it as strongly for a strategy board game - where you play often with the same set of people - its not a match for Settlers Catan, Carcassone, Ticket to Ride etc.The game is well packaged in a sturdy card box (26cm square, 7cm deep) - the fold out board is robust, and all the playing pieces are well made (timer, counters, dice & a lot of cards). The colour instructions are printed with large font and run to 10 pages. You can find the video instructions online. My box was missing the drawing pad (so we just used some scrap paper).Make sure you properly shuffle the cards before playing - otherwise the puzzles all seem very similar! The basic idea is to collect the necessary common and rare equipment cards you need to pass through 4 gates, by completing puzzles or actions (acting or drawing) and swapping cards. Though the board is nicely detailed (and has clues for some of the puzzles), you effectively just move in sequence between the 4 spaces (no rolling of dice to move). The good points- our first game with 3 players only took 50 minutes, and we got a good grasp of the rules in that time- the game allows for 8 players - much more than most board games (and play is probably better with more players)- the instructions are good, but also allow for house-rules to be defined acknowledging that not everything can be defined in writing- you get a lot of puzzle and action cards, so lower chance of encountering the same cardsBad Points- the box could do with some dividers to separate the different card types (using your own elastic bands is a good idea)- for new players, the 'code' puzzle cards might be a bit difficult to fathom (gives an advantage to experienced players)- the more players you have, the longer time you have to solve the puzzle cards (you get the time until its your turn again - buts its the same for all players)- the actual end game can be a bit of an anti-climax, often you know one player is just waiting for their turn to come round before they will win (and there's not a lot the other players can do to stop them)Overall, its a great game when you have visitors and very reasonably priced given the quality and quantity of the components.

Great game!
I bought and played a few rounds of this game with my nieces, aged 7 and 9, and my mom. We all enjoyed it, and after an initial round of learning, and allowing the youngest to always choose action cards instead of puzzle cards (some are really hard, but some are quite easy). We all had a blast and the two kids enjoyed it and it kept them occupied until the end. We also modified the rules to allow them to finish the game after the first person escaped.Shuffling the cards is necessary, and it would be a great idea to buy a small pack of rubber bands to hold the cards together since there are so many, also maybe start with half the action and puzzle cards since the stacks are so tall.

Fun family game for all ages
I bought this game for my college age son as a gift. The entire family of five (ages 20-55) landed up playing it and everyone landed up loving it. It was interesting, unique and just complicated enough to hold the attention of both the older and younger generation without it being overwhelming and tipping over into the annoying/bothersome realm or having it become a slog for any one player or even the whole group. For gamers, I would say this is like Ticket to Ride meets Clue. My entire family agreed the game had high replay value so it was a win that I picked a cool gift :-). I would totally recommend this as a gift to yourself or another.
