Seniors Guide to iPhone: 2021 Edition

This is really an excellent and up-to-date book (iOS15) for quickly learning new skills on your iPhone. I'm an experienced user of iPhones & iPads and teach classes on iPhone skills to 16 seniors at a local Senior Center. I've recommended this book to my class attendees and now use this book to structure my hands-on lessons. The large page format and large font is very helpful for seniors. The book is well organized, especially for beginners. Each iPhone skill is covered in a couple of pages, clearly laid out with relevant screen photos (in grayscale, not color) and clear simple step-by-step instructions. I looked over several iPhone instruction books for seniors, and by far this is the best I've seen. I also learned a few new tricks. Well worth the modest price. Highly recommended for both beginners and intermediate iPhone users. Apple should include this book with every new iPhone :) I noticed that the Table of Contents page numbers are off by 1, so add 1 to all page numbers listed.UPDATE: March 1, 2022Note that the book cover displayed is NOT the one titled above "...2021 Edition". This is confusing and Amazon has mixed this up. I've been in touch with Amazon and the publisher about this. The photo shows the title and text bubble "Updated for iOS15", but the correct cover has same title but the text bubble states "2021 Edition". You want the version that states "2021 Edition" on the cover. I've already ordered and returned 4 copies of the earlier version "Updated for iOS 15", though I ordered 8 copies for my class and the correct version was shipped. This version has incorrect page numbers (off by 1) in the Contents and the Index, and is missing a section called "Managing your Files" which is in the "2021 Edition". Publisher informed me that Amazon prints the books, so it seems Amazon has confused 2 different version files. If you check the publishers website you will only see the corrected "2021 Edition." Same mixup with the iPad Guide, cover should state "2021 Edition" in the text bubble. Amazon is "investigating", so maybe it will get fixed soon. All said, the guide is really excellent!

This provides a very comprehensive coverage but I did not find it as simple as the title -- "Seniors" -- would imply. I'm a retired law prof, used to wrestling with legalese, and I still found much in this guide hard to follow. The book would be most useful after a knowledgeable person covered key basics for the initiate.

It’s a lot of text for my Mom. I was hoping for a few more pictures and diagrams. She still struggles and needs someone to “show her” how.

IN THE CASE OF "Seniors Guide to iPhone: 2021 Edition", I HAVE FOUND THE NEAR PERFECT RESOURCE. THE PREVIOUSLY PURCHASED, SIMILAR BOOKS WILL REMAIN UNNAMED AND I MAY BE ACCUSED OF BEING A DUMMY FOR DOING SO BUT I'M NO PROFESSIONAL BOOK REVIEWER. I WILL SAY THE iPHONE IS A WONDERFUL TOOL WHICH MAY BE INTIMIDATING OR THE TOOLS UNDERUSED WITHOUT PROPER GUIDANCE. I HAVE BEEN VERY COMFORTABLE WITH "Seniors Guide to iPhone: 2021 Edition" BECAUSE IT HAS PRESENTED GUIDANCE THROUGH PAGE AFTER PAGE OF PICTURES AND USER FRIENDLY TERMS STARTING WITH THE VERY BASICS. SINCE FINDING AN iPHONE USER MANUAL IS LIKE PULLING TEETH, AND HAVING PURCHASED AND FOUND WANTING TWO OTHER SIMILAR BOOKS, I CAN HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS ONE.

This is a VERY thorough guide for anyone to start using an iPhone and is up to date with iOS 15. Excellent phone screen shots to help any novice know what to do when on those screens. Gifting this to my friend who’s never done email and the book makes that task easy to understand too. It’s well written with a friendly tone that only encourages one to not be afraid of their phone - great tutorial. Compared this book to Peter White’s book and will be sending that one back, very few pics in that one making it harder to follow and the pics were all too light in grayscale, not a user friendly guide, choose Rudderham’s!!

2 big issues:1) Edition bait-and-switch? What we received is not what was pictured. (Of course, no way to know the differences, if any.)2) Index is poor / cursory. Many specifics that are discussed are not indexed (or in the table of contents), making them hard to find.That said, much is very useful. So we debated between 3 & 4 stars, and went with 4.

Bought this for a “friend who has everything” for Christmas. She had just gotten an iPhone and was learning. She loves it! She said it’s informative, helpful and answered all of the questions she had.

It is OK, but pretty generic and with little detail that helps with issues that are less than straightforward when using the Phone itself.

The book is well written, but the pictures are in grey with black letters. Must be an old version because in the magazine shop I found the same book with the pictures in colour. So, stay alert mr Seller

As one who is seriously challenged by the new technology, but who was told he needed an iphone(!) this book has proved very useful. There is no guide that comes with an iphone - strange when they are so expensive - there are still things I struggle with, but the book has helped.

Found it lying outside after being out all night. Envelope quite damp but luckily contents ok. It was not handed to resident.

This is a great guide for seniors who are not up to date with today’s technology. It shows you all the basic steps in picture and text. Also it makes you more familiar with tech. Expressions you may not know. To ‘me as an 90 years old senior is a good helpBetzly
