Poor Quality
The mold quality is not good. Some pieces are so poorly formed they are unusable.

VW Maggiolino (1973)

A Nostalgic Blast From the Past.
It has been a long time since I last put together an Airfix model kit. This kit was dripping with nostalgia. The included paints are acrylic and once mixed thoroughly they offer really good colour and depth. I previously exlusively use enamal paints, and whilst the acrylic paints are not quite as nice (to my eye) as enamal, they do work really well. There have been a few reviews talking about the quality of the moulding, and the need to trim and file the edges. It is true that there is some finishing needed on some of the parts, but it should be remember that this kit was designed, and the positives for the moulds were produced nearly fifty years ago. It is not fair to compare the finish of the mouldings to more modern kits. The parts all fit together the way they should (though you should have a good set of tweezers to hand for assembling the very small and delicate parts (such as the shocks). The paint brushes are a fairly decent quality, and have been added to my model kit, as have the left over paints. Talking of left over paint, there is a significant quantity of each paint. The pots seem to seal pretty well, whether they are airtight and if the paints will last remains to be seen. Rather than painting onto the bare plastic, I used a primer. The tollerances on parts like the wheel hubs are very tight, and so some parts needed the mounting areas cleaned of paint. It was a nice way to spend the weekend, priming on Saturday, painting Sunday morning and assembly in the afternoon. Unfortunately these days my hands are about as steady as jelly on washing machine doing its spin cycle. This means the finer details (such as the chrome lines on the body work) are a little all over the place.

Muy bonito.
Es bonito y divertido montarlo, pero hay que buscar la forma de pintarlo bien.Supongo que habrá aerografos en el mercado.
