Fresh and Accessible
Mark Young masterfully gets to the heart of what the most significant book in history is about. One True Story, One True God is a book about the book. What's the Bible about? Young addresses it in a remarkably fresh accessible way for anyone genuinely interested. Like cairns that help navigate the grandeur of summiting a Rocky Mountain 14er, Young's book provides key themes and turns in the Bible's grand narrative. The vistas leave the reader in awe of who God is, what God is up to in the world, and what difference that makes in our lives. One True Story, One True God not only helps or changes how we read the Bible, but how we read the unfolding stories of our lives and world.

What is the Bible all about?
Dr. Mark Young crafts this small book as the answer to one of life's most important questions. Young narrates how he was on an international flight and a secular man peered at a Bible and posed the honest question, "What is that book about?" One True Story, One True God is Young's effort to answer this question, and he does so in three sections: the story, the plot, and the characters of the Bible’s metanarrative. One True Story, One True God encapsulates the biblical story of how God invites people into relationship with Himself and into participation in his mission. In short, Young argues that the Bible is about redemption and mission. In terms of redemption, Young states that God sends Jesus and steps into "our dilemma and does what we could never do ourselves—set us free from the bondage of sin, death and evil and restore us to life in relationship with him" (p. 39). In his chapter entitled "Sent," Young argues that believers must view themselves as sent by God and empowered by the Spirit as God's witnesses (pp. 155–169).This book is a great introduction to missional theology, and is highly recommended for pastors and small group leaders. Young guides the reader in a conversational style and vivid illustrations. His theology is succinct, accessible, and perfect for a Sunday School class or small group.
