There is a small card stock box that it comes in. The alum stick itself is in a handy retractable plastic tube, almost like a deodorant applicator.

Not really. The stick absorbs little water and water won’t do the product any damage. Make sure you apply water on your shaved skin before use though otherwise this might sting !!! But cap closing with water no issue Omega.
