Q: Which version of Thunderbolt this closure has ?

This is for Thunderbolt 2 only.

Q: Does this work with macbook pro 2017? and does it have any disadvantages if i use it via usb instead of a normal flash drive?

This device connects via Thunderbolt, not USB. To connect it to a 2017 MacBook would require an adapter as that generation of laptop uses Thunderbolt 3/USB-C ports while the device has the older style Thunderbolt 1 & 2 connector.

There are many informative videos on YouTube explaining this topic. You can do it yourself.
