Length of guide rods? I would like to fit 2 of the edge guides on the same rods to sandwich a narrow piece of stock between to create a mortise.

While that is a really heavy , overkill of a mortise system, it can be done. You will want 8mm diameter rods. The "Home Depot" ⅜" rods that were suggested, will work, but there will be play, and they will flex compared to an 8mm hardened linear rod. You can get 2 if them, to varying lengths (whatever you desire) for pretty low cost on Amazon. I use them for all sorts of aspects in the 1617, and MR23.

It won’t work with my Bosch PAF 1200 AE, I’m disappointed and sending it back. The rod diameter and spacing is different. A bit more detail in the specs would be helpful. I think I’ll but the M.power one instead.

When cutting arcs and circles, a pivot plate is used. from what material is the pivot plate made? is there any means, other than tape, to secure it?

Double sided tape is the best way to secure the plate. Once you are done using it to cut the circle, you simply remove the tape and there are no marks on the surface.
