Ganlu Hand Operated Jumbo Center Ball Winder for Wool Winder Holder Yarn Fiber String to Wind Machine

Item came in a smashed box with no instructions--being new to knitting I have no idea how it works or how to put it together. Review update--I did figure out how to put it together-it was pretty easy. However this does not work very well at all. The main problem for those of you who buy expensive yarn--it winds the yarn too tight. You know what that means--it will ruin the natural elasticity of the yarn fiber by stretching it too much. Also the handle does not turn easily and it is very noisy. The one ball I did wind--I got halfway through and realized how tight the ball was--so undid it and wound it on my cheap plastic winder. I was wrong thinking that the more expensive one would be a better product. This is going back. Unfortunately I have to pay for return shipping. Save your money.

I am happy with this item. I hope that it holds up as long as I want it to. I was very skeptical in regards to plastic gears so I looked for a winder with metal ones. I was also looking for a winder which could handle a big ball of yarn and not just the little ones. Also, since I only need the thing a few times a year, I was not into paying a fortune. Now, I have to admit that I have never used a winder before so I have no idea what to expect. But, I think that this one is exactly that what you pay for. Mind you....the edges on the table clamp are rough but perhaps I will glue on a leather or felt piece or even find a rubber foot for it. The gears are not made with Swiss perfection ;-) but that machine costs over 4x more than this one. So, all-in-all, you get what you pay for but it is absolutely usable and practical. Also, it was listed that the delivery would take over 24 days; BUT it arrived in a little over a week! So THAT was great too!!!

Does not come with instructions. Somewhat difficult to get working. Metal pieces get stuck on each other.
