SmartTemp HC1302 Portable Reusable Hot/Cold Pad

This pack works very well for me. When I ordered it, I figured I might be sending it back based on other reviews, but all my experiences with it have been great. I haven't had the need to heat it yet, but it works terrific as an ice pack. I needed one for my knee after running (per my physical therapist working with my biomechanic issues), and this one wraps nearly all the way around it. Because I'm smaller in size, the strap can be wrapped twice so that it goes around the top half and then the bottom half of the pack, keeping it snug to my knee. I've walked with it some and it stays put well enough to grab something until I sit back down.I like that the pack is flexible when frozen to form to my leg. It also has stayed cold longer than I expected or had read about on other reviews. I've had the pack on for 30-45 minutes and it remained cold enough. By then, my entire knee was cold enough, too, even if the pack had warmed up some (thermodynamics say it did), but I couldn't tell the difference. I even took it with me to the track (cold outside) and put it on after my workout as I drove home. Because of the good flexibility, it did not impinge my driving but obviously the manufacturer would not endorse this. When warmer outside, I'll just put it in a little cooler when my workout requires driving elsewhere. Frankly, it is comfortable enough to nap in it.I also like that this is a bigger pack with some coverage above and below my knee. It will definitely work well in larger body regions. The strap is quite long so it should be comfortable for many applications. The pack slips easily into the cover after I remove it from the freezer. Overall, this is a very good quality product, and if used as intended, then it should last a long time.

I cannot recommend these highly enough!! These have been so helpful that I have ordered them for family members -- such as when my Mom badly sprained her ankle, and she also found them helpful. I have many Smart Temp cold packs, ~5 now, and I often alternate between painful areas. After thoroughly frozen, the cold lasts for at least 1-2 hours. The size is excellent for applying cold to many places -- the cold pack can be placed over shoulders (I have dislocated & had surgeries on both), wrapped around knees (the Velcro is useful for keeping it in place, although it's quite difficult to walk with a cold pack on; it tends to fall down from the knee), wrapped around the hip, the lower back, the ankle, etc. The Smart Temp cold packs have lasted for >4 years, and maintain cold now just as well as when initially purchased. At home, they have been quite durable; they are stored in their own little drawer in the freezer. When stored at work in the freezer, the Smart Temp packs were occasionally damaged, so that one would leak gel, but this is probably because others carelessly threw items atop the cold pack and punctured it. The blue cloth covers can be washed in the washing machine; an occasional wash removes the stale freezer smell. Every household should have one of these in the freezer, just in case!! And if you have had multiple injuries, it is helpful to have a few of these around!!

I had tried many products at home and at hospital and was not happy at all, with any one of them. They used to leak, they were cumbersome to tie them around leg or arm, and they wont stay put. Finally I decided to order this and I am so delighted that I ordered this as it WORKS GREAT. Its pliable so it fits around the body area like a glove ..The soft gel provides the comfort without any gaps. The gel is sealed well so it does not leak and can be reapplied withing few hours. The elastic band secures the pad in place with no worry about constant slipping. I strongly recommend this for anyone recovering from knee or shoulder surgery. It helps to reduce swelling after surgery and hence reduce dependence of strong anti-inflammatory or pain reducing medicines.

As a sufferer of back and neck pain, I frequently apply heat and cold. For convenience, I wanted my current pack to remain in the freezer, so I bought this to be my heat pack. It works just fine. No complaints about how it heats and maintains the heat. And the strap is nice for keeping it in place on my target sore spot.The only complaint, and it really isn't major, is that the cover over the gel pack does not stay on very well. It would have been great to have a small piece of velcro to keep the cover secure over the gel pack.In spite of that minor complaint, this is a great value for the price.

I've been using for years.. But most people could not handle reheating properly.. if u can learn to straighten out the inner pack and smooth out the edges and not overheat then this is the best heatpack out there due to its ability to conform and stay warm ... Oh ya.. The pack slips out a tad too easily... They should place a little velcro in the opening bc if u use the strap the opening faces inward and can come out and pack burns skin, I have to use it with opening facing outwards and twist the strap to attach ( yes pack wants to come out and fall on the floor but it is better than getting burned)... So generally I just don't use the strap unless I have to...

I just bought another one of these. I’ve had my other one for 8 years. They are wonderful, long lasting heat/cold, and durable. They have a nice case and a Velcro strap. The cold will last a good hour. I don’t use them for heat as much, but it lasts a long time too. They are thick, which is why I think they last so long.

I have a smaller version that I use for my knees, but this larger icepack is great for my shoulders and lower back. The strap fits around my torso or waist and holds it in place. I'm an old lady getting back into fitness, so usually ice down my joints after every workout. Feels amazing, stays cold as promised. Other reviewers complained that it is rigid when first out of the freezer, but working it around for a few seconds is all it takes to loosen it up and get it in place.
