I would call it good, but not fabulous. It may vary from horn-to-horn. They supply white cotton gloves in the case. Why not buy one, oil it up and see if that particular one is good enough? With the white gloves one could do that without leaving a single fingerprint.

Jean Paul USA offers a one year wear and tear warranty, which means they cover everything except damage and drop. As of this time they don't offer an extended warranty but their service and response seems really good, which is one reason I purchased it for my Sophomore level student.

Yes. The case is the best thing about the trombone. The trombone itself is not very good. Ours broke within 4 months. We rented a yamaha and use the jean paul case.
