Detailed and tons pictures
If you're looking for a book that is a overview of the Edo period's history and art; this is a great book. Some parts reminded me of reading a textbook, which is my only complaint. The pictures of varying art styles are detailed and plentiful. The book starts with a historical overview than divides into the different regions of art during the period. And the back has a handy timeline of historical events divided by region. Very useful and interesting.

Great introduction to the topic
A engaging book that gives a good overview of the time period - I finished it feeling \I had a good introduction to the art and culture, and a idea of where to go to further my knowledge. Well structured and easy to follow. Very well illustrated - even the smaller images are really clear. Overall, a book I would recommend.
