HyperDrive USB Type-C 5-in-1 Hub with Pass Through Charging for 12" MacBook, Chromebook Pixel & USB-C Devices - Gold

This hub has the slots I want and seems solidly built. I caution the buyer to consider the mating surface between the hub and macbook. Most hard case bottoms have some overlap on that side, which may intrude partially into that mating surface, and you don't get a solid connection. If you have a hard case and don't want to perform surgery on it to remove the intruding section, you may want to consider a hub where the male USB-C connector is on a cord. Also note that the USB-C male connector is situated at one end, so any weight or pull downward on the USB-A cords connected to the hub will put twisting force on the male USB-C connector.

Bought on 8/5/18 and was working pretty good until today. Plugged in the hub to my 12" MacBook and....nothing. The light didn't come on at all. Plugged in my thumb drive and Mac OS wouldn't even detect it. I thought something was wrong with my MacBook until I plugged in a different USB-C > USB-A Dongle. Worked immediately.I had been suspect of this thing from the get-go. Mostly because of how flimsy this thing is when plugged into the single USB-C port on the side of my tiny MacBook. It flops around freely and should only be used on a hard surface where it can rest. It seemed to slow down the charging of my MacBook if left plugged in and I used the pass-through charging feature. I'll be contacting the manufacturer for a refund.

The product does what it's meant for. I used it throughout the first day and it worked just fine, but the second day it broke. I guess it's partly my fault because I dropped it on the floor from waist-height. But let's be realistic, you're gonna drop it sometime or another. It depends on the angle it falls on because I dropped this on it's port's side which split open when it hit the open. Needless to say I could no longer put it into my computer's port. I tried to take pliers and DIY my way out of it but that didn't work. I can force it into my laptop but it doesn't work and is very finicky when it does work. The new version of this for the MacBook Pro is a revised design where the port (USB-C) is made from a single extrusion, meaning that if it falls, it won't split open and cause the issue I faced. If you're looking at this for a MacBook Pro 2016, take their full version meant for it. It has more features and you won't face the same problem as me.

It's a good hub for the Macbook, but with its only point of attachment being the single USB-C connector, it feels very flimsy when attached to the computer. There's too much weight attached to the computer and the single USB-C connector isn't enough to keep it steady. It wobbles and generally feels very insecure. It's almost bad enough that I'd simply recommend a USB hub that doesn't attach directly to the computer but instead connects to the computer with a cord.

Just barely touching this interrupts the connection, any tiny movement of the MBP is like an ejection. Maybe better if it had 2 ports to the computer for stabilization. My SD reader didn't work either, but even if it did, this is not the fix I needed, and it gets really hot. Looks pretty though.

It’s just not convenient in certain positions and it’s not convient for people who have protection cases on their laptop

This is the best concept because Apple decided to drop all the ports on the mac book, leaving only 1 USB C port. If you have a macbook, you will need an adapter that can charge and read from your USB devices and or Memory cards. This HyperDrive does both charging and give you SD/mirco SD and 2 USB ports it is great until you get unstable micro SD card reader that require multiple insertion for the Macbook to recognize it. At worse this product failed on design. The micro SD card slot let you insert the card through and bite onto it. After I rescue the card out the reader it is no longer readable the HyperDrive completely destroy the SD card, I just lost all my valuable photos and videos. I would not recommend this product to anyone who use it to read/write on the SD card slot.

It had sort of a tight connection to the usb-c port on my MacBook - for about 2 weeks. Since, it has loosened so much that it's virtually useless. Just missed the return window but would like yo get my money back.

Works well with Macbook 12" 2017, and it's very tiny and light compared to the multitude of other multi-hubs I seem to have collected. It also takes next to no power from the host when on battery, unlike many other multi-hubs.

Has stopped working after 5 uses. It has to be held at an angle for it to work. Not happy.

Getting Heated up and not working at all. wasted money

Functionally, it seems to do what it is advertised to do. It gets pretty warm when plugged in, even if the card is not in use. It doesn't fit all that well if your macbook is in a shell case. I didn't buy it to charge through, and there are 4 ports, so I haven't tried that. I plan to buy a short male to female USB-C extension to use with it to get past the issues with the case; it might also stay warmer if it's away from the macs vents (I do video processing so my mac fan runs steadily).

コンパクトなデザインで軽量。一見素晴らしい製品だけれど、実際に使ってみると、接続部のアバウトさや、SDカードをさした時の感触など不満な点が多い。色調もスペースグレイに合わせたが、濃い色合いで、微妙に異なる。今までHooToo USBハブ Type-C 3 3.0ポート HT-UC001を使っているが、価格は同等でも製品がしっかりしている。携帯するには色々と目をつぶってこの商品を使ってもいいが、普段は今までのハブを使用することにした。
