caffeine and l-theanine is a fairly well known combination that is supposed to offer a less jittery stimulant than caffeine on its own. I don't know if it is proven, or placebo effect, and I don't really care. It works well enough for me, and I will reorder when I run out. (My not caring about why it works is not willful ignorance, rather the placebo effect is equally powerful as many medications, and is constantly researched in the hope of understanding it. If the top neuroscientists can't figure it out, then I am pretty sure that I am not qualified to opine why it may work, and I hold no delusional belief that I will discover the mechanism or pathway that makes it work...)
