Firefly 5 Language Visual Dictionary: English, French, German, Italian, Spanish

Ordered a used copy of the Firefly 5 Language Visual Dictionary, and overall I'm very pleased. It arrived within a week of ordering in very good condition, practically brand new, no worn out pages or scratches on the hardcover.It is more compact than I expected (I had a bigger, older Spanish-English version from nearly a decade ago), but I guess that's a good thing because I don't want to lug around a full size dictionary in my bag and break my back...My only complaint is that some of the images that use mainly black/dark ink are VERY dark. To the point that it is very hard to distinguish the details for some of those images, like the illustrations in the animal category - the bats don't have faces! It just looks like a giant blob, I have to squint and get really close to the page to see the details. It can be rather distracting while flipping through and learning new words because the whole point is that it is a visual dictionary. I'm not sure if it's because I got a used edition or if all the dictionaries get printed like that? Not the end of the world, but I hope that it was just my copy that got printed like that...Anyway, I bought it as I am studying languages in college and could really use something like this to help expand vocabulary. Good purchase.

Había comprado otro diccionario visual, el de DK, pero me pareció demasiado cutre y lo devolví. Luego compré este y me da una mejor impresión. Está mejor organizado, hay más espacio en las páginas por lo que no está tan abarrotado y además las ilustraciones son bonitas. Sí que es verdad que algunas ilustraciones aparecen bastante oscuras (en una reseña en inglés dicen que el murcielago casi ni se ve), pero a mi me parece bastante apropiadas y con buena luz no hay problema alguno. En general es un buen diccionario visual que ayuda a tener una visión general de la civilización occidental en 5 idiomas. Las traducciones no son literales, lo que es de agradecer, y estan adaptadas a cada contexto ideomático (por ejemplo "moose" aparece como "arce americano"). Recomendable para quien busque una herramienta así.

Darei un voto 5. È americano non Inglese, potevano almeno scrivere le differenze dove sono evidenti. Gli argomenti trattati sono poco approfonditi soprattutto la parte sulla casa e il vestiario, purtroppo va nello specifico su argomenti non di vita quotidiana del tipo varie tipologie di carrarmato o addirittura i componenti di una pistola. Per me non è molto utile. Consegna Amazon ottima.
