Same sturdy, tough knife it has always been!
This knife has not changed in many years. It is all metal very sturdy, and low priced. I strongly recommend! I bought the 5 pack.

Wow quality is no longer a word at Stanley
I have purchased dozens of these Stanley 99E knives over the last 3 decades and this set of 5 every one had issues.2 of them the slide that holds the blades does not fit down the channel to extend the blade. The slide gets stuck part way.1 of them was bent so when the screw was tightened the 2 halves did not come together and the extra blades would fall out.1 of them the screw was cross threaded or something I bent a quarter trying to get the screw out and had to use an impact wrench. The screw did not go back in. The threads in the knife were stripped. Maybe i can tap it? Probably just gonna throw it away.1 of then was almost good everything looked good and felt ok until the blade slipped out of the holder. The little clip on the blade slide that hold the blade in place in the slider was bent out shape. It was easly bent back with pliers but....Not sure what they are doing at the factory to QC their products but I will never buy another one. I hear Milwaukee makes great utility knives?

Not what they use to be
These classics use to be good knives, seems Stanley has went to a lot lighter and cheaper metal. I have a couple old ones nice and solid, and the new ones just aren’t as reliable and the screws strip out very easily.

Handy tool
Needed to replace old ones. I got 10 because the newer Stanley 99E I s either impossible to get the screw out or out is difficult to keep it in place. I like feel of the tool and that is why I buy it.
