Beverly Hills 90210: The Fifth Season

GREAT SHOW THAT HUNG ON TOO LONG
Beverly Hills, 90210 was a nighttime teen soap opera that shot to insane levels of global popularity shortly after its debut. Jason Priestly (who played Brandon Walsh) and Luke Perry (who played Dylan McKay) achieved international stardom. The show centers around twins Brandon and Brenda Walsh who move from Minnesota with their parents and are enrolled in Beverly Hills High School. While the show is supposed to have a “fish out of water” feel as the ordinary twins make friends with the teen offspring of the rich and famous, Brandon and Brenda seem so at home among the beautiful people that they never really seem to be out of their element.Particularly compelling in the early days was the budding relationship between Brenda and moody rich boy Dylan. When the show followed its characters through high school, it was at its best. But as it contorted itself to make sure that all of the characters ended up at the same university and then followed the characters through college and beyond, the show got increasingly weaker. Viewership dropped as the seasons wore on, and I was among those who dropped out.The first three seasons were by far the best, while the gang is still in high school. Seasons 4-7 cover the college years and are still very watchable. When the gang goes out into the “real world” the final three seasons, the slide begins.Bottom Line: Definitely worth watching, but know when to quit.

A series to watch!
Being one of the best series of the 90s, the fifth season is no doubt any different than the earlier seasons. They're in college and going through trials and tribulations of adjusting to college life along with their own personal issues. I thoroughly enjoy the reruns and decided it's a must own TV series from my teenage years into college myself. If you've received the first four seasons of the series make sure you continue collecting as the story lines grow deeper between the characters. I recommend the series.Thanks.

GREAT FOR TEENS, COLLEGE & OLDER
This series is better now than it was years ago originally. So much of what happened then is happening still today in this time. Good series to watch and learn from.

Loved this season!
Best season to date. Storylines shift to a much wider, more mature audience - and Valerie steals the show!I really wish others wouldn't post a full account of the plotlines in these reviews though (really spoils it for people like myself who have never seen the show, and would prefer some things to remain a suprise!)All in all a great piece of the 90's and well woth a watch.

Still happy with the story lines
Still happy with the story lines.the problem is that all in the future episodes is going to change dramatically due to the depart of Brandon.all series from to the beginning up to this five have been great and are a gems on their own right from the production to the work of the actors.this reminding us of better times perhaps.

A disappointment!
I am a big 90210 fan and already had the 5th season downloaded but wanted to buy the dvds too for better quality and collection. For my disappointment i discovered that all ray's songs have been removed from every episode, probably due to some copyright issues. In some episodes you miss most of the action because of the cut scenes. That's a shame!!
