Excellent Book for learing States...
I bought this so she can learn about the state that we live in. It is well written and has lots of beautifully photos. I would place this book around 2 grade level for an advanced reader and 3rd for the average reader. I also bought Indiana , since we live close to the border. This is an excellent addition to your home library!

Strong overview text of Michigan!
Great overview of many topics in Michigan. If you are using this book to teach the third grade Michigan curriculum standards, this is a great starting point. The text level is just about middle of third grade, and there are many text features to support the text. There are also True Books about each Great Lake; having all six books would be a boon for teaching about our wonderful state!

Limited
I like the photography in the book and overview on the government. However, it missed some big things. One unique and important ecosystem is Cheyenne Bottoms the largest inland wetland. Also, no mention of the salt mine or Cosmosphere and Space Center. Also, the forts that protected the settlers on the trails. It is an easy read for students just know it’s missing some information.

It calls Michiganders, "Michiganians."
I think this book needs an edit.

A Great Non-fiction book
This book I recommend for grades three to fifth grade. This book is full of history and geography and wildlife and future outlook. I love the illustrations in this book and its graphics in this book. This book has a lot of fun aspects in it whether you read sections or the whole thing.
