Harriman State Park (Images of America)

This really is a great book if you love Harriman State Park and Bear Mountain. Lots of information of what used to be in the park 100 years ago with rare photos. It’s really a treasure!

I live near Harriman State Park so I spend a lot more time there than most. I kayak the lakes, hike the trails and occasionally bike the roads. I thought I knew the park, but this book gave me a new understanding of what it meant to past generations. It was fascinating to see how recently people made their living there cutting wood and the thousands of kids who summered there before TVs and video games. A view to a different life.

For those who have enjoyed or do yet enjoy Harriman Park there is probably history here you won't find elsewhere.
