Great substitute for sugar
Great substitute for sugar! It comes with a ziplock which is great if you don’t put the entire pack in an airtight container. Easy to use in any tea or any dessert.

Disappointing
Compared to licorice root powder that I bought years ago, and which is still intensely flavorful, this brand is bland and unappetizing. I only have a little leftover of the good stuff at the bottom of a jar, and hope to trace back it's brand and origin.

Seems alright...
I cannot really tell you if it tastes good or not because I have never really liked how it tastes. I have been drinking licorice teas for years solely because of the health benefits. Like stevia, it is certainly an aquired taste. I used to go out in the woods when I was a kid and chew on fresh licorice root. This tastes like that root, but being a loose powder in my tea, vs a pre-made tea bag, it has a bit more of a grainy texture. It smells just like licorice root, but it also has this earthy dried smell that reminds of my fresh dried dandelion roots that I also used to harvest when I was a kid.

Delightful and aromatic - plus, it's organic!
I wanted to try this licorice powder because I was reading a book about targeting stubborn fat, and the author referred to “glycyrrhetic acid” (a component in licorice) and its potential role as an aid in weight reduction, but as a topical cream. I saw this powder and wondered how it might assist me with my goals, but as it turns out, licorice is an amazing herb! If you go to medicinenet.com (or any myriad of authority websites), you can read so many interesting things about this aromatic herb.I used to love licorice candy as a child – you know the candy – the one that is red and black and comes in the form of twists?! I don’t eat refined sugar now (<5g/day), but when I opened the bag, the powder was very aromatic and it smelled and tasted just like the candy I remembered (without the chewy part!). Since I don’t eat a lot of refined sugar, it does taste a bit sweet, but it’s not overwhelming. Apparently you can use licorice to sweeten teas, but I put ½ teaspoon of licorice powder directly into my morning greens shake and ½ teaspoon in the afternoon shake. This powder is very fine, so you have to be very careful when opening the bag if you don’t want it to spill all over your counter. The bag containing the powder can’t be resealed, but it comes in bag that can be resealed, providing you can get it back into that bag (I couldn’t!). I am used to all kinds of powders, so finding a solution to keep it as fresh as possible is the norm for me. I have to say that I just love the taste of it! And, it’s organic, which is even better!Oddly enough, when I did a simple search for licorice root powder, nothing came up as an aid to weight loss, but it offers plenty of other support for the body (and even some precautions). However, when doing a specific search related to weight loss, there was quite a bit of research on a component of licorice that may aid in reducing weight through 11beta-HSD1 inhibition. We all know that there are no magic potions and having lost nearly 100lbs, I am acutely aware of this! (I still have about 25lbs of fat I want to oxidize, though.) I am always on the lookout for things that can augment my progress, which is why this powder became my next focus of interest. That said, we have to be willing to get the basics right first before we can begin to bridge the gap to augment the process. You might be wondering if this licorice powder helped me lose any additional weight. I can’t say that it did, although the research looks promising. My nutrition is on point, but I haven’t been doing much cardio or HIIT training either, so I can’t expect anything different. What I can say is that with a bit of reading (which is why it took me so long to write this review!), I learned so much about licorice from it being a “mouth freshener” to supporting digestive health.I always say in my reviews to do your own diligence. Get comfortable reading about herbs and their mechanisms of action and have fun cross-referencing what you find. It is an amazing world out there, and licorice is simply delightful to add to a daily shake. This one from Healthygeek Organics mixes quite easily and tastes delicious, plus it’s organic!

Finely ground; dissolves pretty readily; excellent flavor
I was a bit hesitant about this since I normally use licorice in liquid form. After using it, I find I prefer it to the liquid. It comes double sealed: the powder is in a sealed pouch which, in turn, is in a larger pouch with a ziplock closure. I appreciate the effort made to keep the product fresh. The grind level is fine and even. It doesn't smell like licorice when you sniff it in the bag -- it has more of an earthy scent to it. However, when the powder is dissolved in liquid (I use it mostly in tea) there's an excellent licorice flavor. I was getting more of a licorice impact when using less than 1/2 a teaspoon than I get with a teaspoon-plus of the liquid. Excellent potency! The powder dissolves fairly easily, especially in hot water. It doesn't do as well with cold water, but with a little effort it will dissolve without clumps. I add it in as-is to a cup of tea that is made with a tea bag (it blends well with all sorts of teas). With loose tea, I add it to the tea leaves and steep everything together. It doesn't leave any appreciable grit in the cup.Licorice works very well for me to settle my stomach -- much better than any over the counter med I've tried, and with zero side effects. Ginger also works well, but has far more of a "bite" to it. In comparison, licorice is much smoother and mild. The powder is a product of India. The bag I received in March 2021 has a best-by date of Dec 2022. It contains only one ingredient: organic licorice root powder.Very pleased with this - 5 solid stars! I'll be picking up another pouch when this one is finished.

good sweet flavor
This is my first time trying a licorice powder. I always wanted to try licorice tea and never have and thought that getting it in a powder form is more versatile because it can be used in other ways besides tea. So far I have made tea with it and it had a nice mild, sweet flavor which we enjoyed. I look forward to using it in other things like homemade ice cream, some baked goods, or possibly banana collagen smoothie. The bag has a lot of powder and you use very little so this will last me a long time.
