Adventures with Aziza
Aziza is an excellent guide through the magical land of Shimmerton and the book was a truly enjoyable read. I bought this to read with/to my 5 year old niece who leaves fairy doors everywhere she goes and she loves it!It’s a pleasure to see such a diverse cast in this story, including some brilliant magical creatures. I was particularly impressed with the short section at the end giving insight into the myths and legends that inspired the characters.Looking forward to book 2!

A magical read!
A magical read for fairy lovers! I bought this for a young relative as I loved the idea of the story drawing on mythology in a way designed to appeal to a wide cross section of children. We will certainly be looking out for the next book in this series.

Perfect modern fairy magic story
Finally! A book I can recommend to my Year 1, 2 and 3 children (mainly girls) who are obsessed with "fairy" books. If you have a child who speeds through Enid Blyton "Faraway Tree" or Fairy Magic type books, then this is the ideal read. It is firmly set within the tradition of 'magic door' stories - Aziza receives a mysterious door on her birthday to decorate, and can travel through it to Shimmerton. It's nice to see Aziza drawn with dark skin and Afro hair and generally to have an updated, modern version of these stories that would appeal to everyone. She has problems (the doorknob is lost and she has to find it to get home) that of course she solves with help from the new friends she meets. I would not hesitate to recommend this to anyone who likes magic/fairy stories and I'm pleased to see that Lola Morayo has already written a sequel, Aziza's Secret Fairy Door and the Ice Cat Mystery.Perfect for confident readers aged 5-7, but could easily be enjoyed by slightly older children.

Magical adventure for younger readers
This is such a wonderful new series for younger readers.Aziza loves all things fairies so when a mysterious fairy door appears to the post on her birthday she is beyond excited. When the door transports her to a magical world on the other side her excitement is soon squished as a gaggle of mean fairies steal the door handle and Aziza’s way home.We are taken on a adventurous journey surrounded by gorgeously magical world building and fabulous characters. There is excitement and trickery along the way as Aziza tries to track down the bullies and reclaim her door handle. As well as being treated to a wonderful story, simply told for younger reader, there are the most beautiful illustrations that run throughout. And if like me you are an instant fan of Aziza then you will be delighted to know that book number two in the series, The Ice Cat Mystery, will be out this autumn. 🥳🥳

4☆ A Magical Fairy Adventure!
4☆ A Magical Fairy Adventure!Aziza's Secret Fairy Door is a fun, magical adventure into the secret world of fairies and other magical creatures.Aziza was sent a mysterious package for her birthday and inside was a fairy Door that Aziza was to decoraye herself.Once decorated the instructions were to put it up against a tree and a Fairy shall appear. But Aziza lives in a flat and doesn't have a tree or a garden so she improvised and put it up against her peace lily plant. Hoping it would work.Eventually as she sleeps, strange things start to happen and she finds herself walking through the magical Fairy Door. But I wonder what she will find? Will she still love fairies as much as she did before or will she change her mind. When she meets Kendra, Noon and Felly aka the mischievous Gigglers. Will she ever make it back home after Kendra destroyed the fairy door sealing it tight shut! Can ‘Princess Peri' and Tiko help her escape Shimmerton?I loved this sweet children's book, it was a fun, endearing and a magical adventure. It teaches children to Be Kind, Don't Steal, Always get Permission before taking things, Problem Solving, Never Giving Up, and to Work Together. There are some illustrations that were beautifully presented, I'm not sure if it was just my copy but the illustrations wasn't in colour so therefore for me lacked that Sparkle you grow to love with magical books. It didn't stop me enjoying it though.Aziza's Secret Fairy Door is a nice quick read and would make a lovely gift for children aged 5-8years or a Special Bedtime Story. This is the first instalment in a new series and I'm excited for the next one. I do hope it will be back visiting Shimmerton!Thank you to Macmillan Children's Books for this copy which I reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

Escape into a Fairy world
Aziza makes a pretty fairy door and gets transported to the fairy realm, making new friends, she comes across three mischievous fairies and has to teach them a lesson on being good. This story is really cute, little Aziza (what an adorable name) dreams of meeting fairies and gets her dream come true, but finds not all fairies are polite and lovely. I really loved the friendship she makes with Peri and Tiko. I also really loved that she wanted to make sure that the mischievous giggles understood what they were doing wrong. This book had really pretty illustrations, was so beautifully diverse, it had lots of interesting mythology within it, had sweet characters and some not so sweet. This book is perfect for the young fairy lovers in your life, it will take them to a whole different type of fairy world that they’ll really enjoy.
