Montessori at Home: A Practical Guide for Parents

The author is well known and respected in this subject. She loves kids and understands how to connect to then and provides ways for children to learn and grow.

My daughter has had my g-baby in a Montessori school since she was 18 months old so when I saw this, I thought it would be a great Mother's day gift. She LOVES it and has re-designed her guestroom into a Montessori play room for my granddaughter based on this book. this is a gift that will keep on giving. WELL worth the purchase.

This is a very basic intro for families with young children (up to 3) of Montessori principles. We already know a great deal so I wasn't expecting revelations, but hoping for new ideas. But it's so basic I didn't get many of those.It's very clear and step-by-step, but again, if you're new to Montessori or similar ideas, that will be good for you. Great layout.

I would probably purchase this book if I did not have Kindle unlimited. A lot more in depth than a precious Montessori book I read. I particularly like the activities provided for different age groups. Will be revisiting over time.

Great book with both interesting and useful information!!!

Absolutely loved this book. I purchased it several years ago when we were weighing the pros and cons of homeschooling our children. It was such an easy to digest book. I had two small children at the time I read this book and was able to finish it in just a few days. I have gone back to reference this book many times since then. I feel the information contained in this book is relevant for homeschoolers and non-homeschoolers alike. It truly informed how we related to our children in the best way. Learning the tools to set your child up for optimal learning at home is both empowering and rewarding. I am so grateful I came across this book.

I passed this book along to my niece who has one of the most popular Montessori-centered accounts on Instagram. She has been immersed in using the Montessori method with an almost two-year-old who is astonishingly independent and verbal. She has been deeply involved in education (in curriculum development and teacher training, and also as the developer of many of the most popular teaching aids on the TPT website) since she graduated from Columbia University. Here are her thoughts:--- I was really hoping that this resource would be full of Montessori-aligned activities to do with my toddler. However, the activities included are the most basic and generic toddler activities. For example, two of the one year old activities are blow bubbles and walk like a cat. There’s no discussion of using traditional Montessori materials. I’m sure there may be some nuggets in here, but there are much better Montessori books available. ---

Before your kid goes to kindergarten, if you are a believer of the Montessori school of thought, this book enables you to teach your kid at home already the basics of what a Montessori school will be like. This book is intended for parents of preK kids, up to three years of age, and to allow them to establish a Montessori-style environment in their home and adapt kids to this learning approach. The first chapter is an in depth introduction to the principles of Montessori, especially teaching the child to be independent and make choices of their own; thereby with positive reinforcement enhancing the joy that the child will see in learning. After this first chapter, the second chapter then teaches how to adopt Montessori at home and what parents can do to make a later transition to a Montessori school very smooth. The next few chapters are organized by age, starting with infant and then up to three years, with the last chapter reserved for when the child enters formal education outside. Overall, I think this a good book for parents that know for sure they want their child to be educated in the Montessori environment. But also parents who feel that they want to try out these principles to see how their child does with a Montessori approach can benefit from this book.I received a free copy of the book from the publisher.
