Good fit, strong support
I bought 2 different braces after my ankle gave out on me twice while building a deck. My ankle seems to roll sideways for some reason, so I thought I’d try wearing a brace.I bought this brace and one called an ultra zoom. Both are good, but I like the way this one is so easy to put on; feels snug & secure, yet still allows for good movement; slips into my shoe easily; and is comfortable enough to wear all day. I usually don’t even remember that I’m wearing it. I have been able to wear it in my Xtratuf boots, but it’s a very tight fit.I’m a biologist, so I’m frequently wading through streams, or walking over rough and sometimes steep terrain in the middle of nowhere by myself. Having a brace that I can rely on is critical. So far I’ve had no further issues with my ankle, and I think the brace has done it’s job.I wear a shoe size of 11 and got the medium size. My ankle circumference is 13”.

Easy to put on and great for preventing ankle rolls
I've been shopping around for an ankle foot brace and decided to try this because it's so different from the typical ones. Definitely easy to put on, fits easily (I have a relatively skinny ankle measuring 7 3/4 in with foot size mens 9.5), comfortable and fits inside of shoes. I wear it with a compression sock or sleeve underneath for a good fit. Some regular athletic socks seemed too fluffy or didn't quite stay put as well.Does it work? Depends on what you need... the POD brace allows for a flexible range of motion which makes it great to wear easily with your existing shoes if you're prone to rolling and spraining your ankles but otherwise functional and not injured. But it's not literally bracing your ankle if you have weak ankles. It's preventing ankle rolls/sprains because it limits the possible motion of your foot rolling inwards and keeps your foot aligned. I appreciated that there's still some range of motion so that I could wear the brace without my foot atrophying from being overly restricted unnecessarily.I don't have a sprain in this case however. I have posterior tibial tendonitis and just broke an accessory navicular bone (blah chronic injuries), so no this brace is NOT for my PTTD. I've been searching for something that supports the navicular bone where the posterior tibial tendon attaches in the arch closer towards the heel than most plantar fasciitis options support. This brace fortunately covers that spot and is almost rigid. It makes up the the difference between my navicular bone and orange Superfeet orthotic (for when I'm active) so I have rigid, full contact support right at my problem area. I'm also wearing a compression sock/sleeve underneath the brace so this whole franken orthotic situation gives me the most flexibility depending on if I'm just walking around casually or being active. My doctor was so uninterested my chronic, open-ended problem so I hope this review can help somebody out there.

I use it once in a while.
This brace is super easy to use--positive. It holds my ankle steady, but still allows me to continue all my activities--positive. It is comfortable about half the time. It does not fit easily into any of my shoes, but I can get it in there eventually. If it is sitting just right on my foot, I would say it is pretty comfortable. However, that is not always the case, and if not, it can be a little painful on my ankle. I would not buy it again, but I do use it when my other one is wet with sweat.

Great for EDS / hypermobility
I would recommend this brace to anyone experiencing medial and lateral ankle instability from hypermobility or connective tissue disorders. For medial and lateral ankle instability: I have chronic ankle instability due to Ehlers Danlos (EDS), which has caused repeated falls and injuries. I have previously used articulated ankle stabilizing braces, including custom prescription Arizona Braces and ones purchased over the counter. This brace, by far, is the most comfortable, is the most light weight and is extremely low profile.Additionally, I’ve experience foot drop from lax connective tissue. This brace acts like a foot-up AFO and is adjustable around the arch of the foot to customize size and need for support. Simultaneously, it still allows for great movement and freedom of the ball of the foot.I tried this brace on with sneakers and under lace-up/side-zip boots and it fits with both. I have yet to try it with dress shoes or sandals, but I’m sure it will work.As someone who wears braces any time I’m walking to reduce turning my ankles or dropping/dragging my foot and tripping, this is by far the best brace. If you are looking for the great brace for hypermobile ankles (especially with foot drop), this is it.

CAUSED an ankle sprain
I suffer from chronic sprained ankle and when I work out, I normally wear an Active Ankle brace. I wanted something a little less bulky and tried the DonJoy POD brace. I wore it one time to the gym and actually sprained my ankle while wearing it without doing anything too strenuous. I have since sent it back.Aside from my injury, I noticed that this brace limits almost all movement for your ankle, not just in the direction you don't want it to move. I found my leg fighting against it for all activity. It's more minimal than any other brace I've owned, but it's also the least comfortable. This product is also getting a poor review for customer service. I've gotten three emails from the company, asking for a review on Amazon, but also asking that I reply to the email if I had any issues (instead of leaving a review). I replied. Twice. I didn't hear back from them. So, now I'm leaving a review.
