Gerber Bear Grylls Survival Torch [31-001031]

The light is a single led and is OK for illuminating and close in work. NOT made as a super powerful high end "spotlight".Having said this, I use it all the time to find things in the dark outside, and for a general torch the light is fine and the battery life appears to be very good.The general construction is where this thing is amazing. The aluminimum is thick and very strong. It is well machined and is better than many more expensive torches I have seen. I noted the threaded ends are all O ring sealed, nice attention to detail. The rubber grip means you can hold it in your teeth if you need to go "hands free". All good points. The rear compartment is not huge but it is made for a couple of matches and some tinder and in this role it is big enough.

This is a nice flashlight, sturdy, tough, last 20-24 hrs. on one AA, and feels very well made.It's plenty bright for most everything you will need it for. I took out the matches and put another AA in the other end with the tinder, then a piece of 550 cord to hang it around my neck if I need to.I'm very happy!!!!!!!!!!!!

This light is really nice. It's waterproof, nice good size compartment built in for tinder or anything else you can fit in there. Its bright enough and feels good in your hand. Great to take along on a camping trip, hunting, nice BOB item, etc.. The only reason for the 4 rating is because they did not put some kind of protective cover over the bulb. The bulb is exposed and could break if dropped a certain way. Plus with it being exposed to the elements it just makes sense to have one. Other than that you can't go wrong with this light.

The pros: good grip. the color helps to find it easy if you re camping. long last battery with just one AA. space for 1 extra AA.The cons: its quite big. the led is unprotected so its not that hard to hit it against something. overpiced.

This is a great Flashlight one that you would like to have in case of an emergency, even though you must know it is no very bright as other reviewers said, I have the  Gerber 31-001034 Micro Torch Light  (you might want to check my review of it) and it's more brighter than this, but where this flashlight excel is that this one is made with more stronger materials it has a nice grip and it is water resistant or so it is claim (not that I doubt of it, any way one reviewer said he test it).It have a storage at the bottom which is also water resistant it come with water proff matches and tinder. It uses only one AA battery which is why you have a space for little items like matches (or any thing that have the size of another AA battery, with a little more room to spare).It only have one led which is probably why it is not more bright, don't get me wrong it saves the day in the darkness I use it often in the night but I would had like it to be more brighter that all.The way to turn it on is to rotate the front to the right, and you rotate it to left to turn it off and also to change the battery, I would like it to have a switch for turn it on but I guess it was design that way in order to be water resistant.I don't remember seen Bear Gryll using this, but I recommend it as survival flashlight in any situation in your home, outside in the field, in your car, office, etc. You might like to check others flashlights from the Bear Gryll collection like the  Gerber 31-001034 Micro Torch Light , or this  Gerber 31-001028 Bear Grylls Hands Free Torch AAA Light with Battery Storage

The light is ok. But you can buy a better flash light for the money you spend. Dont waist your money on this go out and buy a real good LED flash light. And like i said about the Bear Grylls survival kit go out and just make on your self to fit your needs. Its cheaper and you control the quality of the stuff you put into.

Decent flashlight but not way close to torch status. Wouldn't use for lighting my way on a trail. More so for looking into small places

This is a nice, sturdy, reliable little flashlight. It is simple with no unnecessary functions to break. It uses one AA battery, which are easy to carry. They do not take much room. You can use bottom compartment to carry a spare battery. I just keep the survival supplies which Gerber provided in the bottom compartment. I have not had any problems with any Bear Grylls gear.

Good quality

Awesome product. Really love the colours and the design. The rubber handle allows for an easy grip or if youre using your hands, the rubberised handle allows it to be placed in your mouth with a little more comfort. The bulb itself lets off a super bright light also which allows me to see a lot during the dark. I also love the airtight and waterproof compartment on the back. I carried matches and a striker in there, just in case i forgot my striker.
