Best x event in years
After over a decade of bad stories and crossovers this is a much needed breath of fresh air.Does it directly continue the threads started in hox/pox? No. But it ties up a lot of the threads seeded in dawn of x (especially Excalibur). As some have mentioned in comments. this is a little bloated, with the first half being dedicated to set up / gathering the swords, but is that a bad thing? We spend some one on one time with most of the prevalent cast before they enter a life and death contest and get much needed characterisation in what is otherwise a big group book.Could this have been slimmed down? Yes. And originally I believe it was meant to be a lot smaller, but do extra issues like the hellions issues detract? No. And do having a couple of issues to sell the contest itself make me enjoy this more? Yes!This is a big book but filled with some fantastic concepts and fun beats. Only negative is first book did come a bit damaged, the pages had clearly been whacked.Find this often happens with books delivered from Amazon, but then they always do send another if requested and my second was perfect so keeping at 4*s.Recommend this. Especially if you’re tired of crap like battle of the atom.

Quantity over quality
I expected a lot from this crossover and was sadly disappointed. There were some good points mainly with Wolverine, X-Force and the Hellions. The ending was better but it took a long time getting there and just pushed it up to 3 star instead of 2 for me.My main problem with this crossover it is 23 issues, I was expecting a lot more, not just a setup of the next stage for the mutants. The book is supposed to be a tournament to the death of 10 chosen champions from Krakoa Vs. Arakko's 10 dark champions. Almost half of this crossover is Krakos' champions gathering their blades. Then the blades were hardly used. The tournament just seemed to be a joke, who swaps a sword fight for a wedding, an arm wrestling match or a catwalk? Wolverine actually said everything I was thinking reading this book "Bull$#!£". The last 2 issues were more of what I was expecting but it was a bit too little too late.Maybe my expectations were too high, but or I was expecting something different, and I did not think this book delivered. The artists work on their regular issue so there are a number of different artistic versions. There is a huge cover gallery at the end of the book with thumbnails of the of the varient covers of each issues, as well as full and double page spreads of the wraparound covers.

Meh
Not a patch on previous crossovers like Messiah Complex. Ive enjoyed the Hickman X Men book and the two mini series before but this book proved i was right in swerving some of the other titles

Ok read but expected more
I found this to be an enjoyable read but i'm not sure I like the characterisation of Apocalypse in this. It's not the character I love. The storyline was ok but felt off too. It just does t feel like an X-Men story. The last battle is also a bit much.

Some of the best Marvel content you'll read
I'm biased, I know, but Hickman is a great architect. His X-Men stories are some of the most daring and original, and X of Swords is no different. The art is amazing (from Pepe Laraz and Cassara especially) and most of the issues are epic in scope. It's cool, it's fun, it's deep, it's action packed.

Estupendo tomo
