This book is a wonderful condensed version covering the London Olympics. I would recommend it to anyone who loves the best sporting event held every 4 years.

This book is a must have for all fans of the Olympics because of the amount of facts and the fantastic pictures it has in it.Some of the more "obscure" sports are in there and even they have a guaranteed page written about them, often with a breathtaking picture to go with. If the uncommon sports have one page, The more known about sports like Athletics gets like 5-10 pages in some cases.There is also a schedule in there with all the events so you can plan what events you're going to watch in the comfort of your sofa and when.Despite the fact I have plenty of Olympics Books, I was still learning plenty along the way.This is a must have for all fans of the London Olympic Games.

Given that this was an "official" book for the games, I expected so much more.1. The brief history that is mentioned in the description is so incredibly brief, that it isn't worthwhile mentioning in the description.2. The schedule provided is no more than the overall schedule you'd see in the single graphic provided on any website with Olympic information. For an "official" book, I expected to see a schedule for individual events (e.g., 200m butterfly with the date and time) and not just that swimming, in general, spans over X number of days.3. I also expected more information on the participating athletes. There are a couple of pages devoted to each sport that contains only one highlighted athlete and a list of 3 names in the lower corner of athletes "to watch". With a sport such as swimming where there are so many different athletes and so many stars that could be different based on the event (and not just across the entire sport), it seems like such a shame that more could not be provided.This was deficient across the board. I wouldn't recommend it. For informational purposes, go to the official website for the Olympics instead. As a memento for the games, I would suggest trying to find something else, but if you can't, this book at least has a page dedicated to each sport.

Accurate yet succinct information about the forthcoming games. Sensible and helpful layout for easy fact finding with delightful photos. Good and eye catching use of colour. A really excellent little reference book.
