TV Character Toys Twelfth Doctor Second Sonic Screwdriver

I got this just for the sake of taking it to the Twice Apon A Time Christmas special showing in theatre xDThe sound is clear, it's easy to operate and I had no idea it had four sound effect & light settings! The shipping took a quite a while buuut for the price I would so recommend this for cosplayers... or, ya know, for people like me who have no intention to cosplay but just want their own sonic. Haha

When I first purchased the 12th Doctor's 2nd Sonic Screwdriver, I did not know that there are actually TWO DIFFERENT COMPANIES that manufacture a toy of the 12th Doctor's second sonic screwdriver. It seems like one makes it in the US, and the other makes it in the UK. To look at them right next to each other, they look almost identical. BUT THEY ARE NOT. One is made by SE7EN20, which seems to be the US manufacturer. The other sonic screwdriver is made by Character Options (UK). The SE7EN20 one is GARBAGE. Not knowing the difference, the first sonic I got was a SE7EN20. It arrived in cheap cardboard packaging that did not protect it during shipment. The first SE7EN20 one I got had a slight bow in it, where the whole toy was bent slightly. The section that pulls off to access the battery compartment did not attach tightly, there is a wobble to it. The activator switch is extremely spotty on the SE7EN20. The sound and light features on the two sonic screwdrivers are (in theory) exactly the same, and activated exactly the same. Pull the switch down for blue, pull down twice for blue chase mode. Push the switch up for green, push up twice for green pulse. On the first SE7EN20 sonic, I managed to get the green options to turn on only a few times, the blue options worked more reliably. I returned the SE7EN20 sonic for a replacement. The replacement SE7EN20 was a bit better, but still had a bow (though very slight) and wobbly battery compartment. The light and sound features worked better (mostly), but both of the green features were still wonky. They would come on most of the time, but would activate intermittently, like there is a loose contact in the switch when it is in the "up" position.While I was waiting for the replacement to arrive, I became aware of the two different companies making this item, and got suspicious that maybe SE7EN20 was just crap, so I also ordered THIS product, which is made by Character Options and shipped from the UK. It arrived today, and I am happy to report that the quality on the Character Options is waaaaay better. Good plastic protective packaging, no bow, battery compartment stays on tight, switch, lights and sounds work flawlessly. The sounds are the same, though sound a little different in tone or speed. Same with the lights. Oddly enough the chase mode "spins" twice as fast on the Character Options sonic, and in the opposite direction. Screen-accuracy-wise, Character Options gets the speed right, but SE7EN20 gets the direction of the spin right. Also, if you look "down the barrel," the SE7EN20 sonic is frosted. The Character Options sonic is frosted on the sides, but the ends of the diffuser rods are clear, you can see right down to the LEDs. This makes the Character Options sonic lights a lot more intense-looking when staring at the "business end." That one will be visible from much farther away.I had heard other reviews opining that the 12th Doctor's 2nd Sonic Screwdriver toy was the best made of the toys to date. When I got the SE7EN20 version, I was baffled how anyone could think that. But now that I can hold and compare the Character Options one, I can see where they are coming from. I would recommend the Character Options version (THIS ONE) much, much more strongly than the SE7EN20 one. The SE7EN20 one is really not worth getting at all, in my opinion.

No problems at all. It's the best doctor's sonic screwdriver, after all. Good quality, and surprisingly screen accurate. Bit on the pricy side, but it IS a collectible, after all.... Though that doesn't stop me from opening it and messing around with it every now and then😉My only complaint is that it doesn't seem to work on wood. Or screws, oddly enough.😆

Looks great. Love the multiple modes of lights and sounds. Opening the battery compartment is a little tough since it feels like you're going to break it, but I like the idea of how they hid it.

From the moment I took this sonic out of the box I was amazed. However, it is a bit difficult to remove from the packaging. The LEDs are well lit, the paint applications are superb, and the sound is louder than any of the previous sonic screwdriver toys. It has a nice weight for a plastic toy and a quality feel to it. The slider switch does rattle around a bit but it's nothing too bad. It's very comfortable to hold despite its rough design. It is slightly longer than the Matt Smith sonic but it doesn't feel too big when you're holding it. Mine arrived in just nine days.

Very good shipping, sonic screwdriver was undamaged and works perfectly and is very accurateto the show in terms of likeness and appearance and sounds. I only wish it lasted longer in the actual show as it was far too short lived in the series.

The product is amazing! My sons both loved it and loved all the different settings...and my wife and I couldn’t help but like it too. :). Shipping took longer than I hoped but it did come a long way so that’s understandable.

Für mich DER Ultimative Schallschraubenzieher! Er ist etwas größer als sein Vorgänger (die blöde Brille ignoriere ich einfach mal komplett :D), sehr schick, gut verarbeitet und mit seinen vier Funktionen unschlagbar! Die Sound und Lichteffekte (blau und grün) lassen sich über den gut positionieren Taster in Form eines Rädchens in der Mitte des Screwdrivers starten. Den Taster entweder einmal hoch, zweimal hoch, einmal runter oder zweimal runter schieben. Er ist sein Geld definitiv wert sofern man ein Whovian ist ;)

Having been a doctor who fan for a very long time and having owned every single sonic screwdriver ever created during this time period, I just had to buy this new one when I saw it. The 12th doctors sonic screwdriver arrived today and I must say I am pleased with the item. Compared to others in my collection such as the 10th and 11th doctor screwdrivers this probably isn't my favourite but the build quality is much the same and this time they have added a few extra new sound effects and you also have two colour modes which include blue and green when the button is pushed up and down. This screwdriver doesn't extend or open like previous versions and what you see is what you get, but nevertheless it is a nice item for any doctor who fan and collector and it will be nice to put with the others. It also feels nice when held and isn't too heavy or too flimsy and the design is rather attractive. The light effects also change depending on what mode you use with the buttons which again adds that something extra to the product which hasn't been done with some previous versions of the screwdriver. So, to summarise I will say this isn't the best one of the screwdrivers, but I like it all the same, and I would recommend it to fans and collectors of all ages.
