Q: Is this awning retractable?

Yes, but manually by pulling a cord and securing it to the wall around a hook that comes with it. I like it but on very windy days I close it and when I leave on an extended trip I even put zip ties around it so the wind doesn't catch the little bit that is not right up against the wall just to be safe.

Q: what size window awning will fit a regular size window?

Regular is vague. I will say this it is 6 feet wide. If your window is less then it will fit. If your window is what I would call small 36in. Then you can center it or order the next size down.
