Salewa Mountain Trainer Mid Gore-TEX Boots Mens

I never leave reviews but these boots are the cats meow. First I should say I usually wear a size 12 in typical US market shoes, based on some of the other reviews I ordered a 13. It's as if these shoes were custom made for my foot. The toe box is perfect, the flex cuff on the heel makes them feel like tennis shoes but they have the durability of mountaineering shoes. The midsole is indeed stiff but with the materials used they need no break-in period. I'm going to say that again, this is a mountain boot that needs no break-in. Just open the box, put them on and go. The construction is impressive. I imagine they will last a long time. The traction on the sole is perhaps some of the best I've seen. The cut of the treads and the material used for the sole is beyond any expectations I could have. Gore-Tex lining keeps your feet dry and dry feet make happy hikers. They look a little goofy but I can see this is an example where truly is form following function. They said this is what a foot looks like, not this is what the shoe should look like and when you put them on immediately you can tell. I'm a huge huge fan of Asolo boots but I told my wife these boots make Asolos feel like Walmart shoes. There are zero hot spots and your toes don't feel smushed. Never even heard of Salewa, glad I took the chance. Most comfortable boots I've ever owned.

The Salewa Mountain trainers are what i consider to be a crossover boot between a Burly backpacking boot and an entry level mountaineering boot. The Mt trainers have the attitude of a mountaineering boot but lacks a true stiff midsole. I also own a pair of Salewa crows which have a complete stiff sole. The mt trainers are a great option if you're scrambling, backpacking, hiking through scree and hopping over talus rocks. You can used them for normal hiking but they may be overkill for some people because they are in the heavier side, you're definitely not going to win any marathons with these. I definitely love the style and colorway, however I do wish they came with green laces instead of the oranges ones but that a small gripe. I highly suggest going 1/2 to a full size larger on these for several reasons, 1) they are made in Europe, European made shoes tend to run smaller. 2) highly recommend to use wool socks, thicker socks take up more volume 3) your feet will swell up at the end of the day Im a size 10 and i bought these in a size 11 and im really glad i did. You also may want to put in a good aftermarket insole, Salewa's multi fit foot bed insoles are flat and really dont cushion well. Overall these are extremely well made boots, if you're looking for a great backpacking boot that can be used even in just about all kinds of mountain terrain than these are the boots for you.

Simply AWESOME boots. I'm now a big fan of this Salewa company. I was previously a fan of Asolo company for boots, however, my recent 2 pairs fell apart in no time at all and Asolo wouldn't help me out. I had purchased one of those pairs in Spain and Asolo said i had to return them in the country where they were purchased....ummm, ok i'll just go with a different company next time. I tried several other brands and decided to give these Salewa boots a try. I love these boot!. They are very comfortable and seem to be extremely well made. Gore Tex, simple design, stable, supportive. I notice the toe box flares out compared to the foot bed which gives plenty of room for wider foot profiles. You won't regret these.

Excellent quality boots. I wear an 8-8.5, so I bought the 8.5. I generally have a difficult time finding narrow enough boots. With that said, these are VERY narrow, causing my little toe to rub. They were too narrow for me. NOTE: these boots are shipped from their headquarters in Germany. Return shipping is only reimbursed up to $20. UPS quoted me $200 to return. I’ll be trying to sell these on EBay instead.

Amazing shoes, I'm probably going to buy a second pair for back up. I have Salewa firetails, and find that I have to buy larger sizes than normal in the firetails. Based on the size reviews I read online I chose to get a half size smaller than my firetails for these and they fit perfectly. Great if you have really wide feet - I struggle to find shoes that fit me, especially difficult because I have full length custom insoles. I thought that the firetails were the most comfortable shoes in the world, but these are even better. A wider toe than the firetails, great lateral ankle support and have a really nice cushy feel on the ankles. I recently had an ankle injury and these have been great for enabling me to walk on uneven ground on the farm for long periods without further aggravating the ankle.

I have had the best experience with other Salewa hiking boots, they are the best. To winter time works great

The boots are made with good quality good grip the laces could be better. So here's my issue, I have I little bit of a wide foot. Not wide enough to ever get wide shoes or boots. So I ordered my normal size and when they came i wore them for a day or 2 and it felt like they were folding my foot like a taco. I put stretchers in them wet them down a lil with the stretchers I tryd everything. Im willing to bet if I was informed of this I would have gotten a wide boot and they would have been comfortable. I will say the boots themselves are made good strong material good stitching i just wish someone would have put some info out there how skinny they hold your feet

This is my third pair of similar styles boots. The sizing has been spot on with every pair. They all have quickly broken in and I’m expecting this third pair to give great support and comfort as the first two. I’m in the woods a lot and everyone is looking for a comfort and support, which they have, it’s the grip I get that is probably my favorite. The confidence in the grip while climbing over downed trees, roots and rocks whether wet or dry is fantastic.

Buty wyglądają solidnie i wizualnie spełniają moje oczekiwania. Co do trwałości i jakości się na tą chwilę nie wypowiem gdyż jeszcze nie miałem okazji ich przetestować w terenie. Obowie zakupione głównie jako buty zamienne do turystyki zimowej. Raki koszykowe CT pasują idealnie.

Habe die Schuhe im Frühjahr gekauft. Haben perfekt gepasst (2 unterschiedliche Einlagen sind beigepackt). Habe jetzt schon einige längere Wanderungen hinter mir und bin noch immer vollauf begeistert. Auch für Klettersteige sind sie gut geeignet. Keine Blasen oder dergleichen. Auf Asphalt sind sie etwas steif zu gehen aber sind ja schließlich Bergschuhe und keine Straßenschuhe.
