Witchblade: Redemption Volume 1 (Book Market Edition)

this one's basically Sara Pezzini saying "My bad" all over the place
With both halves of her mystical artifact restored to NYPD detective Sara Pezzini, what's next is for Sara to seek atonement for her vile acts when possessed by the Witchblade's dark side. It's also a time for goodbyes as Dani Baptiste relocates to New Orleans and into her own series, ANGELUS. A step towards Sara's reconciliation with her cop partner and boyfriend, Gleason, involves a romantic holiday at a Vermont bed & breakfast. However, the weird and supernatural are always nipping at Sara's heels and so the couple find themselves lending their police expertise in a local case of missing children and an ominous bridge and the troll under it."Almost Human" is the next arc and it marks the return of the green-haired cyborg assassin Aphrodite IV, even as Sara locks horns unexpectedly with the shadowy Cyberdata consortium. In a nod to the extremely formidable nature of Cyberdata's security automatons, Sara finds herself for once fully armored. It's one more chance to demonstrate just how badasss the Witchblade is and for Sara to flex her muscles. But Sara's relationship with Aphrodite IV has essentially consisted of the cyborg trying to terminate her. Peculiar circumstances dictate that Sara partners with Aphrodite IV as they storm Cyberdata's underground complex, but it's an uneasy truce, hinging on the cyborg's promise to forego killing her current target.WITCHBLADE Vol. 1: REDEMPTION collects issues #131-136. The enduring team of Ron Marz and Stjepan Sejic is still holding it down, and terrifically. Marz is a solid, solid writer. His dialogue flows naturally, the story moves briskly, and I'm enjoying how he's writing this contrite but still no-nonsense version of Sara Pezzini. I wish, though, that Gleason would quit being such a weenie. And I can't wait to get to know Sara's just paroled sister Julie a bit better. Now that Dani's taken off, there's space that needs filling. Meanwhile, I've run out of adjectives to describe Stjepan Sejic's art. His stuff simply pops out. I'll leave it at that. No, wait, I will mention that I've noticed that in this volume he's drawing Sara Pezzini's face a bit differently. It's not a bad thing, but I see the difference. Honestly, Sejic is why I decided to pick up WITCHBLADE some years ago.Ron Marz has become the mastermind of the Top Cow universe, having been the architect of that company's most recent epic crossover arcs (FIRST BORN, BROKEN TRINITY). Guy's at it again. Note that issue #136 spins directly into ARTIFACTS #0, a Free Comic Book Day offering. The ARTIFACTS mini-series is touted as the next big thing coming out of Top Cow.This trade's bonus material: a 21-paged Cover Gallery and the 8-paged Cover Process Gallery, in which artists, editors, and the writer describe the evolution of the respective covers. Also, sample four pages from THE DARKNESS comic book or, else, Jackie Estacado'll put a hit on you.

Love the Witchblade artwork
I am an amateur artist and enjoy sketching when I have the time to. I got this comic primarily to use as I practice my style and artwork. I don't follow the story of the Witchblade comics and only use for the artwork as I really enjoy the Witchblade style.
