Explore the intricate patterns and symmetrical beauty of these ready-to-color designs! This vibrant collection of drawings was inspired by the hypnotic appeal of the mandala. An ancient form of meditative art, mandalas are complex circular designs that draw the eye inward, toward their centers. These 30 dazzling mandala designs will captivate colorists of all ages, challenging them to create kaleidoscopic effects. Review: She Started Coloring and Did Not Want to Stop - I bought this for my sister and she started using it immediately. The designs are detailed but still easy to relax into, which makes it perfect for unwinding after a long day. It has that calming, satisfying feel where you lose track of time just coloring. She really enjoyed it and kept coming back to it whenever she wanted to chill out. Review: Turns out to be my favorite! Here's why... - Friends gave me some art markers as a gift recently, and I quickly became addicted to designs like these. I've searched hundreds of similar products and have "test driven" about 15 of them now. This book turns out to be my favorite. I don't love EVERY design in the book, but I love enough of them that I'm about to order my 3rd copy. Yes, I could (and have tried to) photocopy the pages to avoid buying the book again, but the quality of the copy paper I have isn't very compatible with the Prismacolor Art Markers that I use. That doesn't mean that you can't or shouldn't make copies for yourself. I like this product so much that I don't mind spending $3.95, and I think I'm going to order a stack of them. The designs are that satisfying to me. I want to try them out in a variety of color patterns. These designs offer such satisfying detail in a format that's NOT so small that you have to squint while viewing the page, yet neither are they simplistic, childlike, or so large that using markers results in streaks as you try to fill the space. The scale of the designs lends itself nicely to the Prismacolor art markers I use. If you like to use various shades of the same color, these designs are structured in a way that allows you to experiment wonderfully with that technique. The quality of the paper isn't way off the charts, but it's a bright optic white and is of a much higher quality than what I've seen in far more expensive products. I'm satisfied with it! Yes, it's true that these images are printed on both sides of the page, so if you use permanent markers like I do, the ink bleeds through, rendering the back side of the page unusable. This is where you'd end up photocopying the other side of the page (if you have access to quality copy paper... if that matters) or buying more copies of the book. For $3.95 I can't beat this book. I've spend HOURS absorbed in the designs. I posted about 10 of them into the "viewer's pages" section above... hopefully they're visible. I absolutely recommend this product!

I Like It, I Love It! I Just Want Single Sided Pages! Please!
These books are fantastic, and this is one of my favorites. I am as eco-minded as the next middle-aged hippie woman, I mean I recycle/reuse/reduce/repurpose just about EVERYTHING! But I would not mind one bit paying a few cents more for separate pages for these lovely designs. The pure enjoyment, relaxation and therapeutic value of coloring these mandalas and other Dover design books is well worth it; it can be expensive to find quality paper to make photocopies. I encourage Dover to consider reproducing these double-sided page books to single perforated pages, as many of their other fine books are!

Fun & creative meditative outlet
I absolutely love coloring these beautiful Mandala plates. I have trouble meditating in the traditional way and find when I color these plates it helps me relax and I easily end up with a wonderful finished design. I am not particularly artistic but this book has 30 extraordinary designs that make it easy to end up with delightful end product. I would say there is only one drawback to the book and that is if you use colored markers and not pencils the colors bleed through to the design on the back. So, in that is the case, you are really only getting fifteen designs and not the entire thirty by the time you are finished. With the price being only $3.99 it is still quite a bargain. I would say these books would be appropriate for anyone nine or ten and older. If you have a younger child who is a particularly good at coloring that would be fine as well. I can't stress what a great tool this book is when you just feel like relaxing and ending up with a lovely finished picture as a result. I am plan to order another copy and others similar to it to continue this pleasurable and calming hobby.

Lovely, Intricate Designs
I purchased this adult coloring book in a 4-for-3 Amazon deal. I am new to adult coloring books (but as I mentioned in another review, I colored a ton of books when I was a kid). I was looking for a diversion to get my attention away from staring at a computer screen for hours. I wanted something creative to do, began looking for the old paint by numbers products, and found these lovely Dover (and other) coloring books. I was attracted to the Mandala coloring books for their meditative and intricate patterns, and while reading all the reviews and looking at the customer photos, decided to try this one. This book has a lot of variety which I'm sure will keep me occupied and away from the computer for hours! I've only begun one Mandala, but I must say, it's really a lot of fun. As others have mentioned, the book is printed on both sides of the paper - but my guess is the books would be more expensive if printed only one-sided. Indeed, I did pay a bit more for a one-sided coloring book within this same order, and I see other one-sided books on Amazon that go for $7 and up. So, keep in mind, this is a price selling point (I assume). One can always (as I have done) scan and copy the designs to the computer, and use them ad infinitum. I'm pleased with my purchase and my new hobby. I really do love the designs in this book. Not sure this book would be suitable for kids under the age of 10 - or any kid who is not into intricate coloring using various mediums. But for an adult looking for a past time that harkens back to the days of our youth, this book and other similar adult coloring books are simply perfect.

An Okay Copy Book...If It's NEW!
Based on a few comments and the pretty finished images, I was anticipating a really positive experience with this coloring book. I should have read the reviews more carefully... ▪While the packaging was perfect, the book was NOT! ▪This book was listed as NEW...it was NOT! •Binding was damaged. •Pages were coming out. •UPC was physically covered and taped over still indicating book was 'NEW'. •Several pages had been partially or fully colored. Shame on Amazon for even having this in their warehouse and sending out a product in such poor shape! I did contact Customer Service and they are shipping out a replacement, and stated there was no need to return the damaged/used copy. Imagine that! ▪The images are printed on both sides of the pages. Thus, unless you are strictly a pencil colorist, this book is only good as a master copy book (for personal use, of course, no copyright violation there). And even then, I would put a blank sheet between the finished pages to avoid color transfer onto the facing image. ▪The paper is not of a particularly high quality. Again, if you plan to use markers or even gel pens, I would copy the image first, to avoid bleed through to the next image. Overall, the designs are pretty, but the book's features limit you to particular media, unless you copy the images. It's all in personal preference.

Creativity and imagination
Different patterns make you use your imagination in choosing colors. Relaxing. Easy enough to color while watching movies or tv shows. Can work on these a little at a time or in one sitting.

Mystical Mandala coloring book
I love it. Am having a ball. I use watercolor crayola crayons and since they are wet, I can blend the colors togther and get interesting results. I live in snow country; pretending to be an artist is what I do best when snowed in. On a more serious note, mandalas do help one focus on issues in their lives, help create peace where there is chaos, give the hands someting to do that is creative while giving the mind the space it needs to process, find closure, etc. The contentment and satisfaction that follows a finshed piece that I know is good, is priceless, a "legal high." I highly recommend, so much so that I am sending my young neice, a sensitive and talented young artist, some children's mandala coloring books for her birthday.

Superbes mandalas

I looked all over for a colouring book for adults to enable a happy balance of creativity without a ton of supplies or time. I love that I can just colour for 20 minutes or for an hour and then come back to it. I am going to have colouring page parties to invite friends over to use the books, have a few nibblles and drinks and socialize while doing something so commonly reserved for kids!

Compulsive!
This is the first mandala colouring book and I absolutely love it! It is well worth the money and has many intricate designs that draw your mind to the moment. I can sit for hours and it is an excellent stress relief, you also get a really good feeling of accomplishment when you admire your work on completion. I showed my 11 year old nephew my designs and he is now addicted and has been sitting for hours colouring, he pinched this book from me because he liked it so much and so i have to order a new one. He has introduced my sister to it who is also loving it. The only bad thing about this particular book is thew pages are quite thin and if you colour in felt tip it goes through to the next page but the designs are beautiful and its well worth the money.
