Spirituality for Badasses: How to find inner peace and happiness without losing your cool (The Spirituality for Badasses Book Series)

A very different kind of self help book.
I'm not one to put much faith or promise in a self help book. What makes Spirituality for Badasses different for me is the author's approach. J. Stewart Dixon talks directly, not around the bush and he doesn't really hold back punches. He really seems to understand how folks have lost themselves in the heavy of life. No matter what that thing is bringing someone down, it can be let go. While reading, I felt comfortable to just go with it and enjoy the book in front of me. It was sinking in, if I wanted it to or not. I was getting it, if I thought I needed it or not....Spirituality for Badasses was fun to read. There are great points that were made and ways that brought me to a more self awareness while the instruction was presented in a real life, down to earth, funny and entertaining way. I think the title gives it away that this is a totally different kind of experience and it truly was.J. Stewart Dixon asks the reader to ask questions about themselves without really asking anything of the reader. The questions are deep. It is completely relaxing and enjoyable and I laughed out loud. I honestly think the author would want that to happen. Laughing is joy. Feeling joy is a good thing. Being happy is the goal. And with all of that, yes Spirituality for Badasses is stirring and absolutely thought provoking.Spirituality for Badasses is a journey, a road trip, an adventure and J. Stewart Dixon is the tour guide. The destination felt like an awakening of my own self empowerment and a little bit like giving me permission to feel it, to feel good.Every now and then the author stops the car, literally. Shows the reader how to breathe and be in the moment. To really be in the moment, no matter how we are feeling, to feel it. No matter what we are doing, to be aware of it. To be self aware, aware of all surroundings and all actions. The ride and the adventures the reader is taken on felt like examples of life. How we react, how we feel, how our emotions can get away from us. The speed, the drop, the frenzy, fear, rush. Then when there is nothing to feel, what is one willing to do to feel? It’s an exercise and it sounds simple enough but obviously most of humanity avoids it. It’s not a quest of getting everything one wants or everything going in the right direction all of the time. It is real life happening and allowing oneself to be part of it under any circumstances. Even down to simplest thing like taste.

Hope
I loved Spirituality for Badasses. I have been on a journey of exiting the religious world for a few years now and the author brought a lot of humor in the right way and insight, this gave me a lot of laughter, but also hope. I have started on the workbook and love it too. My journey is freedom, love , joy & peace. "F" the binds of religion.

A new way to embrace Spirituality? Not sure.
I am re- reading it. I guess the first time around I did not get the gist. The author was all over the place, but had a few points that I do remember. Embracing your issues instead of ignoring - staying in the present. I probably would not buy more from this author, who is part of the new self help books infused with bad language- but will see how I feel on the second read.

Great Read and Super helpful
I have this book on audio and have listened to it 3 times now. I absolutely love it! The way J explains how things work is very straightforward and super helpful. For example the way he explains how to think about the “observer” was spot on and really helped me focus on that and understand. This is for sure a journey and J makes it most enjoyable.Straightforward, no nonsense approach to looking within yourself without any distractions. I highly recommend that you buy this book and read, or listen to it.

Great & useful read
I'm going to have to read this at least 2x. Lots to learn and practice, lots to take in. At first, I was doubtful of the method, but the spiritual concepts are well explained in an approachable way. Stick with it! Lenny, btw, is awesome, and I think i need another tattoo, maybe in Asheville.

excellent wisdom on a fun ride
If you’re interested in the topics of spirituality and owning your power, whether you’re a newbie or you’ve been around the block a few times, you won’t regret this read. Good fun!

Real and relatable
I have been trying to find someway to find inner peace. Not only did I find the a way to achieve that and more! I have the kindle version as well as the audible. He is upfront with the fact that there is swearing and not for someone that is (in my words) uptight. I like how he walks us through the process in a way that is easily relatable. There is a way to tie the examples into every day life. After reading and listening, I have found myself being aware when I am stressed and what is causing it. Being aware of my breathing and letting myself feel, actually feel what is happening. This is a work in progress for me. I have a a long way to go but he gave me a way to start and a goal that is attainable.

Stand Out Self Help Book
I've read many self help books, some great, some mediocre, but I've always gained some insight or skill from whatever I've picked up. This book however, stands out from the crowd and really resonated for me personally. One of my main gripes of some self help books is the abstract, greater being, universal descriptions that just go way over my head. This author has recognised this and had made plain and clear what it all means as if coming from a friend. I would humbly suggest that reviewers who are irritated by this are not really being "aware" (sorry) of what the author is successfully aiming for. This really is an effective ground breaking book on being spiritual, I can't recommend enough.

A book that gives you real time practice, not just insights.
Not only Spirituality for Badasses is extremely fun to read. I personally love the humorous, no BS, style. But underneath the informality of the delivery, the content runs deep. And it's not only deep in insights but deeply efficient at getting you to practice concepts that may otherwise be abstract, and certainly not that easy to implement. I'd say to me, this is a bit like the user's manual to The Power of Now. It's one thing to grasp something conceptually, it's another to really "get it" through experience, and Jeff Dixon's condenses years of his own experience for our own benefit, through bite size progressive practices that gives us a proper chance at skipping years of painful trial and error and reach a level of proficiency that helps to go through the challenges of life. Particularly useful during a global pandemic!!!

Awesome book
Spirituality for BA Amazing inspirational book. I laughed and cried as you took me on an emotional roller coaster ride and realized just because I am a medium and healer does not mean I am anyone's doormat . I am not an Angel I am human with human thoughts and feelings and this book came at a time I needed it the most ❤️

Unimpressed
After all the hype and reviews I got all excited to get this ' different from all the others' book.Sadly it was only different in that I found it hard going, childish, tedious, and containing an overdose of swearwords that the author may think makes him 'cool'.I learned a bit about impressive scenery, driving, going over a cliff, and camping . The actual selling point of the book... meh!

American Hype
Disappointing book . Slightly juvenile, trying to appeal to the younger generation. Comes across as confusing at times. A lot of swearing in it. A book a bit like marmite you love it or dislike it. Not for everyone.
