Colourful and conversation instigating
The media could not be loaded. This is a pleasing little book all about Summer. A really nice introduction to the season it has a contents list and index so you can teach your child how to look topics up.It is part of a set of four and it would be worth buying all four so you can discuss each season.I really like the bright summery illustrations and as well as being informative, the open ended questions make it perfect for reading with your child to initiate discussion.

Summer time personified
Wow, this book is fantastic! From the very beginning, I could see that there are so many opportunities for you and your child to talk and learn together. I loved how it's filled with questions on each page that encourage your child to share their thoughts and feelings about the summer season. It's such a great way to bond with your little one and learn more about what they like and dislike during this fun time of year. I think that year 1 kids, especially, would find this book super helpful because it covers information on the curriculum that they're studying. But older kids who are more confident readers can also enjoy this book too! The beautiful and vibrant illustrations really capture the essence of summer, making it an amazing read for everyone. I'm telling you, this set of books is an absolute gem! And this book about summer is particularly well thought out and colorful. I highly recommend it!

Lovely book for readers aged 5+ about summer
Lizzie Scott is a writer and editor of non-fiction books for children who particularly loves plants, animals and the environment. Stephanie Fizer Coleman is an experienced children’s book illustrator who loves illustrating birds. This is a beautifully put-together book (part of a series) for readers aged 5+ that explores different aspects of summer and invites readers to think about what summer means to them and what they like about it.What I really like about this book is that it has a conversational tone to it. Scott starts by talking about what she likes about summer before going on to talk about different aspects of summer. So for example, she talks about the weather and what you wear for the weather before going on to look at how nature is affected by summer and the changes that it goes through. Scott constantly invites the reader to think about different aspects of summer themselves, such as what kind of food they like to eat in summer and what they like to do at the beach, which is a great way of keeping the reader engaged and thinking about what they’re reading and is also a nice way of giving any adult readers helping younger readers to engage with them about the text. Fizer Coleman’s illustrations work perfectly with the text - luscious and languid but with a real sense of space and colour and fun.All in all, I think this is a really well put-together, well thought-through book that encourages the reader to think about what summer is and what it means to them. I’d definitely check out the other books in this series on the strength of this one.

Helps to introduce the concept of seasons
This book is part of a series called 'I Love the Seasons'. This particular volume focuses on Summer. It is a large paperback book which is 32 pages long.It covers many aspects associated with summer such as plants, animals, weather and clothing. Each page is fully illustrated and accompanied by a brief paragraph or two of text. The illustrations are bold, colourful and engaging. The text to image ratio is well balanced. The book also asks questions, which help to start a discussion and involve the reader, as well as encouraging curious minds. Each page is numbered and there is also a contents page at the start of the book too. It's a good informative book for young children which helps introduce and explain the concept of seasons. I have enjoyed reading it to my daughter and would definitely consider buying other books in the series.

Lots to talk about here!
The first thing I noticed was that there are plenty of chances for discussion here with your child as you read through this book. There are lots of questions at the end of most pages so you talk about your child’s likes and dislikes of the season of summer which I thought was a lovely idea. I would say a year 1 child would get the most from this book due to seasons being part of the curriculum for that year and I think the entire set of books would support this well. It is also good for reading for slightly older children too who are beginning to become more confident readers. A colourful and well thought out book about Summer.

Easy read with opportunity for discussion
This is a lovely little book; it is one of a series of four (one for each of the seasons). The book is really colourful and I particularly like the graphics.I like that on most of the pages there is a question for you to discuss with your child as you read.I have reduced one star as, priced at £8.99 at time of review I would have liked to see it a little cheaper.

Horgeoys!
I got this for my great grandson. It's a lovely, well written and beautifully illustrated book all about the season of summer. It can be read to, or read by, children of 3 years and up. It really is a delight, excellent for reading outdoors, in the garden or even on holiday, to deepen the child's experience of nature. The only reason I dropped a star was, it is quite pricey. However I know my great grandson is going to live this and I would like to get him the rest of the series.
