I took my FTCE GK exam today, all 4 subtests, and while I haven't gotten my essay results back, my unofficial results say I passed the other 3 subtests. This was the only book I purchased for GK prep. Seeing as I passed, I definitely give thumbs up to Mometrix. I needed the greatest refresher in the math section, and the book gave a great sample of the types of problems that are on the actual test. There were, however, a few areas that I didn't feel were explained enough in the study guide, so I ended up having to look up more examples online and/or find better explanations. Overall though, it was really good prep. The practice exam was very helpful, and I really liked the explanations in the answer key for each problem. I did get additional practice in the pertinent study areas using a free online "academy," but I knew what to practice because of this book. When comparing this book to the actual test, I would say the examples and practice questions in this book were more challenging than the actual exam, but that helped me be prepared. The book is definitely worth getting.

I used other study materials before taking the first test and they didn't help prepare me at all for the actual test. After taking the test I went online and did some real research and purchased this book. After a few days of studying and using the practice test I have increased my scores immensely. The descriptions and examples on how to receive the answer are very descriptive and helpful. Also, the challenge level is the same as the level on the actual test. I am already feeling more confident in my skills while studying this book.

I am extremely happy with the study guide. I would rate the book a 5. All of the important information is laid out in a manner that is easy to follow. I have taken the first test in the book and it has really helped my understand what I got wrong. Not just the answer, but the explanation of why it is that answer.

Has a lot of information but much of it did not apply to the FTCE test I took and the questions are completely off target for the content being tested. The only plus is the links to videos, but there are good videos on the topics available for free or at lower cost.

NOTHING I learned from this study guide helped me for my GK exam. In fact, it made me MORE terrified for it. Instead, I looked off the study guide from the Florida Dept of Ed's website and studied that. That was all I needed. The math in this book is much more difficult than anything on the GK test.
