I actually bought this for my boyfriend to go along with his other gifts. It works great and is so cool. The only thing is you have to leave it in direct sunlight for a while to charge the solar panel up inside. Unfortunately we haven't had much sun lol. But we did get to use it around Christmas and New Year and it worked wonderful. Now that the clouds and snow are gone I think I'll run back to the house and sat it outside to charge up. So, I ordered 4 of these when they were on sale for under $7 a piece. I had a 75% success rate with my order. One just never turned on. I gave it a few days to see if it would kick in but no luck. I contacted Amazon's customer service and they took the charge off; very hassle-free. I still was able to keep the large mason jar and these are 'top notch'! I would say that the jar alone could be sold for $5. It's heavy, well made and the glass is frosted.The 3 that did work are GREAT. If you plan to keep them near a window, make sure they are near a point of extended and direct sunlight contact. I would advice setting them in a clear, shadow-free location and let them charge before bringing them in during the evenings.Good luck, Suck UK on your future fail rate %. The company from which I bought this was wonderful. It arrived very quickly. It's really a piece of rubbish though. I sat it in a very sunny southern window for three days (with the switch turned off) so it would really charge before using it for the first time. That third night, I switched it on and watched it glow brightly for one minute, and then very poorly for another ten minutes, at which point it went out completely. I tried again three more times (different days, after recharging the battery) with the same poor effect. I thought perhaps that the rechargeable battery might have been old, so I bought new ones. Same thing again.Save your money, for although this is a lovely concept, it just DOESN'T WORK!

I live in Minnesota and was given the sun jar as a gift 3 years ago. I have to change the battery once in a while but that is a small price to pay for the lovely light that glows on my patio table from dusk to early morning. When I come home in the dark, the light is strong enough to illuminate my steps. Small pleasures.....I hope the sun jar stays in production. My friend's grandaughter squeals with pleasure when she goes under the bed to watch the lamp glow. Small pleasures....

This Sun Jar was pretty cool at first. However it stopped working a few months after being purchased. Making it worthless.

I read a lot of reviews about this product and opted to buy Sony NHAAB4EN 2500 AA rechargeable batteries. I put the batteries in, left the jar on my windowsill and had no problem charging the jar. It was still illuminated during the day!

The jars from this company come with one of two different types of power switches. The jars that are only one color, like the purple one, are just fine. This jar has a sliding switch. Switch it to one side and it's blue. Switch it to the other, it's amber. The middle is off. The lights themselves are very pretty. I kind of want to buy another one. The problem is that the switch rusted in place in the first rainfall. Do not bring these jars outside. Keep them near a window if you want to charge them. Do not put them outside or they will rust very quickly. That's a real shame, too since they are very pretty.EDIT: It seems I purchased knockoffs, reportedly from China. Company replaced both jars. They worked much better for a few months. Now, one of them will only hold a charge for about 7 seconds before it stops working. The other one is still working fine (unfortunately, it's the blue one, whose light I don't like as much as the pink one).I gave them another star for excellent customer service. But can't give full stars because the official product still didn't last very long.Still, great company, and cool product when it's working.

not as bright as i hoped but its a nice picnic table light in my camper that works well if it charges

I bought this in April 2017 and it’s still working perfectly. I got two years out of the stock battery and I put in a new Eneloop one each year since.It ‘sweats’ inside and can have a good bit of water by season end but I’ve had no corrosion issues yet. Connections looks worse for wear but it’s still working. I’m in Ireland and we’re not know for our dry bright summers - still this has a nice warm glow every night.Going to buy another two and I just hope they haven’t changed components in the intervening years.

These do suck! I purchased them last spring and loved them until they started to not charge. I put them away for the winter indoors in the dry. I put them out a few days ago and only one works now. They are very nice but they don't work and for the price that really Sucks!!

Una lampara bastante bonito, mas grande de lo que en realidad pensaba, pero eso a mi opinión lo hace mejor, la luz es de un color cálido y placentera a la vista, y el sensor de luz funciona perfecto, si te agradan este tipo de adornos, es muy buena opción, claro considera que sirve para mera decoración.
