One tough well made knife
Outstanding quality, built for hard use and completely ambidextrous. Can't imagine anyone who wouldn't love this. It's a little heavy but you could baton with it. The action is smooth as glass. Sculptured G10 scales give you a solid grip even with wet hands. Thinking about buying another for the safe just to look at since the one use daily gets rough use but will last a lifetime. One hand open and close. Probably the best engineered and overbuilt knife ever made and S35VN steel is rust resistant and holds a great edge. If I could only have one knife this would be it.

Beauty in beast mode
Excellent hard use knife, especially if you have to wear gloves. There are some complaints about the gimping, but I find it useful as the purpose intends. It’s there for grip, specifically with gloves. I myself find no problem gloves or not, just know that they are there and don’t expect to not feel them. This knife completes any job I need it for, with a bit of extra concentration needed for detailed task. Easy opening, stays sharp, and pretty simple to disassemble and clean. The glass breaker chisel point is useful without being so sharp it snags clothing or your hand when reaching for it or other items in the pocket. Kinda reminds me of another big black polymer tool low on looks but completely reliable to get the job done in any condition, which is also dead simple to disassemble and clean. One of SOG’s best next to the Kiku. I’ve had the micarta/carbon fiber one for years and it has been a solid performer in the daily carry. Not sure if they offer a deep carry clip? But it works for me as is, sooo… The Seal XR is a beast of a knife in size and build. This will take some room in the pocket but works. Great value for the money, I bought a used one, one complaint when received is that the pivot was dripping in what smelled of bar/chain oil??? A good cleaning and recondition solved this. Looks amazing, locks up solid, steel is CPM S35VN, don’t see a need to go another $100 for magnacut, easy deployment and trusted tool in the EDC carry. If your looking for a sleek beast of a knife this could be for you. Fit and finish is smooth, no lines or nubs to remove upon arrival. Carry on all…

Nice folding knife
This knife is nice. It is very heavy-duty for a folding knife. The width of the blade is thick and with the counterweight metal piece in the opposite end of the knife, it is rather heavy in weight for a pocket knife. Compared to my other large folding knife, CRKT Triumph , this is a bit longer, heavier, and wider in size. I needed something that wasn't assisted opening for states that have a law against having that. The pocket clip is rather tight. The surface has a grippy texture. The balance is good. The bottom end has a metal stub that I think is meant to break car glass. The flipper stub on the blade helps you to open the knife. It does project out at the opposite end of the pocket clip, but it's not going to open up inside your pocket. If you carry the knife on the outside of your pants, then it's not an issue. There's a hole in the blade if you want to open the knife with it, but there's enough resistance to make that difficult. The build quality is great. It's sharp from the factory. I didn't need to do any further sharpening. The locking mechanism is great. Easy to unlock and close.

Great build.
Nasty knife. A little high priced but it is American made. Pretty decent size too. Great lock to protect those fingers. Slides right open easily and it has one of the best handles for comfort and aesthetics. The blue one is a fake but still a decent knife. Just not as solid as the black real one. And about 145 dollar difference

SOG SEAL XR
Well made folder, easy to open and close, good blade steel, the grip is awesome, it has a little weight to it but if you want a durable and dependable folder this one is for you.

Tough and Capable Battle Knife
An amazing hard use knife. I have over 25 Benchmades, but if I go to war I'm choosing this made in the USA Sog Seal XR. Over built, tough and sharp. Great steel and locking mechanism. I love it.

A weirdly awesome piece from SOG
I don’t usually consider pieces from SOG when I’m looking at a dedicated knife. I have had a few of their multi tools and love the compound leverage pliers, so when I saw a USA made, overbuilt, XR lock flipper for 140 bucks, I figured it was worth a shot. I was correct, it was worth the shot. Sharp out of the box, decent blade geometry, insanely good flipping action, and a hydraulic, smooth, satisfying drop shut that sounds like you’re loading artillery. It’s a behemoth. I wish the clip was deeper, but it’s a purpose built tool and its purpose is satisfying to use. It’s not lightweight, it’s not slim, it’s not that perfect EDC, and that’s what I love. SOG went for a folder with a fixed blade feel and this achieves that in a way I’ve only ever experienced with Cold Steel. By the way, AMAZING action, yet when I crank on the blade to look for any movement, it’s SOLID. Every folder has a little give if you really crank on the blade towards the tip. This one locks up like a bank vault. I’ve only experienced that kind of feel on a triad lock. Good on you SOG. Keep this good stuff coming.

Poorly Designed Locking Mechanism.
I was looking at purchasing the SOG Seal XL for a while, then discovered that Amazon had the cheapest price on it, beating out several knife websites and purchased it. Overall the knife fit comfortable in my hand, finally SOG made something with a decent pocket clip and the problem for me was the locking mechanism on the knife. It's designed so that the buyer can be either left or right handed to use it, but the one shipped to me, it worked as one unit, didn't work separately and ended up returning it. Which is comforting to know that amazon, has your back as a buyer, they stand behind anything purchased through them, was easily able to return it for a refund verse keeping it.Lastly if SOG ever changes this letting buyers purchase it with an option for a right or left hand knife. I would purchase it, it's a really sweet knife and sure others will like it they way they made it.
