Well the plants didn’t grow themselves so this was a complete fail for me, but if I didn’t have such a black thumb this would have been a great science experience for my students I was teaching virtually as well as my daughter I was trying to home school. The only thing that anyone one learned was that I can’t grow anything to save my life. My students and daughter got a kick out of how many plants I could kill while trying to grow something and it ended up becoming a math lesson on graphing how long it would be before I killed another plant.

I purchased this as a Christmas gift. I have a daughter that has a green thumb and this is really taking off and it's only January 12th! Yes, it's Styrofoam, that doesn't concern me. I like the point that it is built in such a way that you don't need to water it all the time. Plus my daughter is older and doesn't try to over handle the farm or have in a place that makes it vulnerable to dropping or knocking over.There were plenty of extra seeds that she planted those as well in various containers. This is a very good experience for all of us, we like watching veggies grow in the middle of winter.

So disappointed, it’s made from styrofoam. 30 bucks for a piece of styrofoam. And why would I want to ever grow plants in that. Totally not worth the money.

For how much this cost it would have been nice for it not to be styrofoam.But the bigger problem was that mine was missing pieces. I didn’t look at it carefully right away when it came so I was past the return window. The base piece was missing so I had to try to make something out of a milk carton. It worked okay but wasn’t great- dirt and water spilled out the bottom. The wicks were frayed as well. It didn’t have nearly as much dirt as it was supposed to so we had to add some. So if you do buy this, check carefully for all the pieces right away even if you aren’t using it right away. You will have to read the directions to do this- mine looked complete but was not.

Bought this for my 5 year old grand-daughter for xmas. She was delighted and couldn't wait to grow her own vege's. It's easy to set up and has plenty of seeds. She can watch the items grow each day and can't wait to eat them. This is a great start for learning about planting and growing especially if you're in an apartment, metro area or other where there's no area to plant.

This is to be an Easter gift, so I did not open it completely. I am a retired teacher and we used items like this in the classroom - they were made from wood and glass which I think would be sturdier, but I could not find one like that. It is a great idea for young children to see how the plants grow under the soil as well as above. I am basing me evaluation on that. I hope it holds up for several grandchildren over the years.

I bought this for my daughter in July of 2013. Following all directions, we planted the seeds and followed all instructions. We got a few sprouts, and nothing else, and they stopped growing and wilted. We don't live where it gets all that hot in the summer, but we waited a few months to try again. Same thing happened, only this time only the onion sprouted, then wilted and died. So we tried again in November, with new soil. Again, the onions sprouted, but nothing else, and they wilted and died, seemingly for no reason. We followed all instructions, and the temp regulated, and still the farm didn't produce a thing. Perhaps the seeds are just bad. Just fair warning, if you're planning on purchasing this, maybe go a different route and get quality seeds and soil. Maybe you'll have better luck. This thing was a waste of money and a huge disappointment.

all her birthday presents were toys except this one. At five years old, I wasn't sure she would like this, but it is her favorite. She is watching the sprouts grow and every day is a new day with a little more.One word about the seller: at first they sent me the wrong thing. Then when I contacted them, they sent me this one at no charge (which is the one I had originally ordered). They were very kind about rectifying their mistake and I thank them.

I bought this as a gift so haven't used it but it looks like a great product.
